Software to test DVDs for errors?

I was wondering if anyone knows of any software that scans dvds for errors. I just got a DVD and it came somewhat scratched and before I go through the hassle of sending it back I want to know if it will skip (without watching it all the way through to test). Thanks.

DVDShrink has a Deep Analysis thing that might help you out. I am not entirely sure, but worth looking into...

DVD Shrink's Analysis doesn't actually scan for errors, but you are correct in suggesting this technique. If Shrink craps out during the analysis (which only takes about 2 minutes per dvd), then you know the disc will probably skip...

However, every player reacts differently. I got a netflix dvd in the other day that couldn't be recognized by one player, would only play half way with a 2nd, and worked perfectly in a 3rd (god, that sounds too much like goldilocks and the three bears!).

...so, it's really hard to determine how a scratched disc will react in any particular player...(although, i will profess that Sony players perform an excellent job at deterring errors on flakey dvd's...).
