Yeah, it's in rotation for the large square box on the main page, though some of you may not be checking the main page so much these days. Anyway, if it's not the large 'feature' picture there does not seem to be a way to access it, though maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Anyway, the point is they send a command to play chapter stop x in title y on your InterActual WinDVD player, bypassing whatever tricky hidden menu options usually required to play extras. Now, the problem is they don't tell you how (as far as I can tell, and again I may not be looking hard enough) to access the Egg sans WinDVD (which is half the fun, sometimes more) which makes it seem like kind of like a cheezy tie in for the Interactual, specifically to drive for profit downloads of the player.

Furthermore, 'dvdegger' appears to have been created for the sole purpose of informing us of this great new "feature," which seems more like a spam marketer tactic than something the site were to do were this a content driven addition to the site, where maybe one of the real staff might pop in in say 'hey, here's a new feature what do you think?'

I don't know, am I too cynical or did I nail that one prettty well?

It sure seems to me like it's a kick-back partnership motivation....

I've never liked Interactual since it messes with the other DVD player you have installed, and there are reports it is spyware.
Also reports that it stills nags after being uninstalled.

And aren't there like a thousand sites out there to tell you where the egs are on every disk you have. Wht install a crappy plug in that'll work on one site to do something you'll probably only do once. :flush:

Y'know, my InterActual player has never worked, period.

I have Power DVD and that only plays the video portions of discs. There's a ton of ROM stuff that I can't access due to InterActual being interactually shit.

Amen to that! InterActual has got to be the worst PC dvd player on the planet. I'll stick to WinDVD for my computer dvd viewing, thank you very much.

Since everything needed to play the egg is free, not sure where Jellodyne gets off thinking it's about 'for profit downloads' or why reapersaurus thinks it's all about kick-backs. They're giving away the player but making up for it in volume, right?

A lot of sites tell you how to play eggs by pressing a special series of remote control buttons or by following hidden links on menus, but this dvdfile egg player let's you watch the Trilogy egg with one mouse click. If you like to watch eggs, but don't like getting to them, this is a great shortcut.

The plug-in must be installed on your system to use the egg viewer, but the player doesn't have to be running and neither does your native DVD decoder/player... the egg plays in a window of the webpage. Cool.

BTW, the egg page is located at http://www.dvdfile.com/software/eggs/trilogy.html

So DVDFile makes no cash when someone clicks on the InterActual player download? They provide the prominent and exclusive link on the homepage solely as a community service?

Sorry, don't buy it. If it's true then DVDFile should shake Interactual down for some cash. Hey, that can ask you since you're an Interactual employee, right?

Folks, maybe if we ask nicely Zoopster, an Interactual employee will comment on this and answer some of your questions.

Peace...

Is that true? It would explain a lot about this thing. Everything but the 'spammer' style heads-up.

Ah, will I guess that makes them not the crass party crasher, but in fact the host, and me the guest who pissed in the punchbowl. If they own the site then I can see why they would make it only work with their player. And here I thought it was owned by this Peter guy.

Still, all that being the case, why would someone create a new anonymous forum ID to plug it, rather than just come right out and say 'hey folks JoeJohnSteve here from DVDFile/InterActual, what do you guys think of this new feature'? I can think of a couple reasons, the least objectionable being simple poor judgement.

Why assume that guy is an Interactual employee vs just being someone who noticed the change to the main DVD File page? Zoopster identifies himself as an Interactual employee (see the sticky thread in the Glitch Exhaust) so I doubt any other Interactual person would feel the need to "hide".

Peace...

dvdegger's first post was to point out the feature, seconds after the feature was added to the main page, and his account name is dvdegger. Since then he has made one other post, also in this thread.

But, I'm sure you're right, he's just some guy who wants to talk DVD.
