Good news for Flash Gordon SE!!! - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Today I picked up 2 copies of FLASH GORDON (1980) at my local CD/DVD shop in Korea. What may be interesting and relevant is that the packaging states that the dvd is Region 1, 3 and 4 (NTSC) and Anamorphic.

It appears to be legitimate as I have other Universal releases that are R1, R3 and R4 (JAWS 2-4). If not, I'm out $40.

I just got the new R2 release this week, in anticipation of meeting Sam Jones and Melody Anderson at Chiller Theatre (in NJ) this weekend. I AB'ed the opening sequence with the OOP US version and the picture was cleaner (no speckling in the Universal logo as oppossed to the US release) and a little wider (you see more of the sides of the screen showing building collapsing during the pre-credit scene on the UK disc).

WooHoo!!! 25th Anniversary release! Gosh, has it been that long?

Well here is a little story:

I first saw this film when I was ten. Funny thing, we had just came to America and our family was on the plane from San Francisco, CA to Atlanta, GA. They showed this movie on the plane.

I was blown away. Up to that point, the only films that showed that much colors that I had seen were the Bollywood films. With the outrageous costumes and special effects, I was in HEAVEN!

Wow, I am both shocked and excited! Bring on those pics! So were there any other details on the DVD? I can only guess that if the cast knows abouth it, then they must've been used for either a documentary or a commentary track.

My brother was at a NJ Horror and SCIFI convention this weekend, and he spoke with Melody Anderson and Sam Jones. Both confirmed that they have just finished recording commentary for a special edition DVD release sometmie next year, though neither could say for sure when next year. My guess is Q2.
