OAR for 'Single White Female'?

was the DVD for this improperly matted? I can distinctly remember seeing Jennifer Jason Leigh's pubic hair in the shower scenes (sue me; she's gorgeous and I'm perpetually horny) when I saw it in the theatre (though that just might mean that the projectionist wasn't paying attention) and the initial LaserDisc release was letterboxed, but only slightly. the DVD, however, cuts off at her hips which a> makes me very sad and b> makes me wonder if this is an error or if it corrects an improperly mattered LaserDisc edition. (don't lose too much sleep over it. the other side of the disc is pan and scan and shows even MORE skin. I just hate on moral principle to watch the "full-frame" edition of anything. even for immoral reasons.)

I hate to miss out on nudity, but I also don't want to proceed under the illusion that I'm watching the image as its supposed to be.

help.

While I'm not a fan of the flick, I think the beaver shot was supposed to be matted out when shown at 1.85. I've only seen the flick open-matte on cable, but I've read elsewhere that Jennifer Jason Leigh's bush is on display only in the open-matte version.

The Cheerleaders also suffers from missing bush in the matted widescreen version. There's still enough out there in that flick though!

I'm sure this thread will go on for quite a few posts with various discussions of great beaver shots in history yet that poor neglected Film Discussion Forum goes unnoticed...

What's an OAR vs P&S discussion without screen captures to compare?!

so, what was up with the LaserDisc edition then? was that just an awkward compromise to pretend to be OAR while also providing as much nudity as possible?
