I think Best Buy just discovered the Criterion Collection...

I was walking through my local Best Buy today and noticed a ton more Criterions than the usualy Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, BEatie Boys, Pop Festival or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I mean my store has Tin Drum, Akira Kurosawa box set, literary box set (with Lord of the Flies, etc.), Slackers, Short Cuts, and the usuals... what's the deal? Did they just suddenly become enlightened?

(EDIT: and on a side note, would Short Cuts be worth a blind buy? the premise sounds kinda like magnolia...)

How were most of these priced? Comparatively inexpensive, or still better to get over the internet?

Every Criterion I've ever seen at Best Buy was priced MSRP.

Best place to get Criterions at is DVDPlanet.com, 35% off MSRP on all Criterions.

As I recall, at my Best Buy, both the Slackers and Short Cuts-extremely nice- sets were something like 27.99 ( I know for sure that Short Cuts was and Slackers at least wasn't far from it). Fear and Loathing is 29.99. The literary collection of 4 movies was 85.99. Akira Kurosawa collection I can't remember...
