Windtalkers single disc FS only !?

i just recieved the single disc version of Windtalkers from a guy on ebay and in the auction it said that the disc was Fullscreen and Widescreen. i checked this out before buying by going to dvdempire.com and checking the disc specs and sure enough, there too it says the single disc is in both 1.33 and 2.35:1 anamorphic.
when i recieved it i noticed on the back of the case : FULL FRAME. i check Dvdempire and the auction listing again before opening the plastic... they both say its in both FS and WS. so i opened it up, put it in and discover that its full frame only.

i checked a few sites and they only list 1 single disc version of windtalkers ever released. the UPC on this one matches up with the UPC given on dvdempire.com for the single disc WS/FS release.

so... was the single disc version only ever relased in pan/scan?

and in case you're wondering what i am thinking, and before you start flaming me, its a kind of joke christmas present for a friend that i got a bunch of John Woo movies for last year.

It could be very possible that you got a copy that was meant for rental instead of retail. Rental outlets still do big business in fullscreen releases, and since full/wide combo discs tend to have content on both sides, they are certainly less durable (and less desirable for heavy-use rental chains.) Since the Blockbusters, Netflix, Hollywood Video, etc. chains are some of the biggest customers for the studios, many can get product specifically for their needs and this could be why you can find no fullscreen-only release info.

That's what it sounds like to me. I own the WS version of this title.

Peace...

Standard issue is a double sider, WS on one side, FS on the other. The only Special Features present are some MGM trailers...

I bet you got a rental version
