A Look Inside...A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE RENTAL.

It amazes me how much of a slob people can be with rental DVDs. Apparently, some people cannot take a DVD out of a case, put it in the player, watch it, and then put it back in the case. So, I've decided to take the plunge and take you (and me) into A LOOK INSIDE: A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE RENTAL.

Front. Notice the puncture marks near the bottom.

Title.

Back. More puncture marks.

Disc. Front looks good.

Disc Close.

Surface of disc. Spider-man 2 poster in reflection.

More disc surface. Autographed Hero poster in reflection.

Because the surface is reflective, here is a quick diagram made in Paint. The spray paint on it represents the smudges, and the lines are scratches.

And that's the end! I would like to thank Blockbuster for making me pay to supply me with this DVD for my Look Inside! Comments welcome!

Summary: Most Blockbuster DVDs have odd punctures in the cases and a large amount of smudges and scratches. Some people just don't care

Enjoy!

This thread is brilliant.

I am also surprised that Blockbuster spelled Fahrenheit correctly.

Re: A Look Inside...A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE RENTAL.

great post. the pics could be clearer though, maybe circle the dents and smudges you are talking about, i cant see them in alot of the pics.

i'll bet you could do a university paper on the molecular composition of mystery smudges on rental DVDs ...

get DVDs from different sections of the store ... porn... action .... childrens... and see what the different substances are on each disc...

i'll bet the kids discs would have the most diverse compunds on them. everything from peanut butter to absolute unknown mystery-goo that even gas chromatographs would return as Substance Unknown ... not on periodic table.

It's a disgrace how people treat the DVD's from Blockbuster, When i rent them i wind up cleaning the discs myself all the time before putting them into my player cause there is so much smudge and finger prints on them.

You can't see the punctures on the front in that picture, but on the back of the case, below and to the right of the barcode, you can see a big black park, that's a rip in the paper and the plastic. The pics are from a webcam, so they can't be really clear. The smudges and scratches don't really appear in the pictures, thus the drawing. Later, I'll redo them on my digital camera.
