Would Natural Born Killers be a good blind buy?

I've never seen the movie, but I love all of Tarantino's movies, even if he has disowned because of Stone's changes. Also, Which is the best version to buy, the theatrical or directors cut? I think the only changes between them is that the theatrical has a new transfer, but I am not sure. Thanks!

Liking all of Tarantino's other movies would have nothing to do with liking this movie. Even fans of Stone's other films have a loathe for Natural Born Killers.

I love the film and own the director's cut for the extra violence. The theatrical cut has an anamorphic transfer and more extras though. Really a good case to get both versions if you love the films. That said, rent it first, it's pretty crazy.

I agree. It's not for every taste. I have it though.

Personally, I love NBK. It's my favourite of Stone's films (though certainly not his best, that one goes to JFK). The Tarantino script is alright, but Stone really kicked it up a notch. That said, the script was written to produce at a really low budget, and Stone's film cost (according to IMDB) an estimated $50 million.

FYI the region 4 dvd has an anamorphic transfer, (i assume the UK region 2 does as well), so if you can play PAL and can find it for a decent price, it's worth it

I concur, rent first. And if you choose not to, proceed with caution.

This is not a good blind buy, even if you are a fan of Stone or Q.T.

This movie requires a special taste, which not everyone has for a movie like this. And it has a lot of taboo subjects that are not approached with tact in mind.

So if you are debating on this, definitely give it a rent first and then decide if you want to own it or not. While some people do not mind the movie on tiem around, it might not have a high replay value for many viewers.

Another question: I have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and the only DVDs coming out between now and then is the new Scorsese Collection. I am thinking of asking for the Oliver Stone Collection, because I have heard many good things about the movies and such. I have only seen JFK, and enjoyed it. Two parter....

A: Which collection is better?
Recent One. Can be bought for 90.00. 14 discs, but the movies which have two-disc editions, only contain disc on (I can think of Any Given Sunday, JFK, and The Doors off the top of my head
Or

6 films, 10 discs. There is one that I can get for 13.00 which is like new. Should I take the plunge and just buy this one on my own? For 13.00, it seems to be an incredible deal.

B: Worth a blind ask/buy (for 13.00). Thanks!

Bah. It was from Half.com, but the order was canceled. The seller had already sold it.

Would new new Stone Collection be a good deal as a blind birthday gift for 70.00?
