The First DVD You Bought

What's the first DVD you ever bought? Mine was the Ghostbusters SE 2-Pack.

(I think this will be interesting. )

I bought these DVDs at a store:

Starship Troopers
Wild Things

My first online DVD purchase consisted of:

American Pie (Unrated)
Armageddon (Criterion 2-disc)
All Nude Nikki (what can I say! :-))

Peace.....

A Bug's Life. I liked the movie, and the picture on that disc convinced me that DVD was the best format available. Outstanding!

Along with my DVD I was given
The Taking Heads Stop Making Sense
Has three different sound mixes and still is the best sounding music on DVD available, along with the fact that Jonathan Demme's direction makes it the most exciting concert footage.

We've had this discussion twice already, arrrggg, I've said it once I'll say it again: these forums need a polls section for stuff like this. K, I'm done bitching and moaning now, carry on

How disappointing. I thought this was an "original thread".

I second what eltravi said. There should be a "Polls" section to the Board. That way people like me wouldn't clutter space in other forums.

First ever purchase, online or whatever, was The Thing C/E R1 (I'm from England) - one of my very favourite films and still one of the best discs around...

My first DVDs was received as gifts: Contact and...er...Lost in Space. Yeah, yeah, I know, but my sister gave it to me! What's a guy supposed to do?

The first disc I bought was either Blade or Dark City...I'm not sure which.

I do distinctly remember that the first laserdisc I purchased was Terminator 2. And I only had a 19" television. Those were the days.

How soon they forget.

Lost In Space was once the hot ticket item of its day and outsold every other DVD title up until that time being the first to sell over 1 million copies. It was also considered "reference quality" material and the first disc to have all the extra bonus materials we come to expect now.

This title should be a part of anyone's collection -- if not for the movie then for historical value!

My .02¢ worth

Starship Troopers, Zorro & Lethal Weapon 4

As I live in the UK the last two titles were not even released here when I purchased the region 1 versions!

And I love S.T. hence the purchase - I then threw away the VHS version!

Well, when we bought our dvd player, we got a coupon for 5 free dvds (had to send away for them, but technically we owned them when we bought the dvd):

Lost in Space
Lethal Weapon 4
Six Days, Seven Nights
Stepmom
Stargate (Flipper!)

We also got 2 more free from columbia house. We chose:
Truman Show
Mask of Zorro

However, since we weren't going to be able to watch those anytime soon, we went out and bought
The Matrix

so we could watch it as the first dvd to be played on our player. (Note that the matrix was the reason we got a dvd player, and even though it's not the best dvd out there (it is up there, but there are better dvds in terms of quality and features), it still holds a special place in our collection)(our being my wife and I, as it was half her idea to get a dvd too - I'm so lucky)

Mine was "Boogie Nights," which has of course been replaced by the new edition. But since it was my virgin DVD, I guess it hasn't really been replaced per se.

I got my player in the summer of 1999, and my first DVD (and still one of my favorites to this day) was ELIZABETH. Next one was SCREAM 2, followed by VARSITY BLUES (for the love of God, don't ask!), and more to become my 70 disc collection today.
