WARNING...Look Who's Talking Collection is FULL SCREEN ONLY!!!
i just picked this up at Best Buy and when i got home and opened it up to look at the back of each case, they ALL said they were FULL SCREEN.
there is absolutely NO indication on the outer box of what the screen format is, but all of what I've read online before its release said that all but the last film were both formats (the last being full screen). I did a check to be sure and that dreaded "this film has been formatted..." screen popped up, and lo and behold they all were full frame. I think this is pretty shitty on Columbia/Tri-Star's part cause the separate releases had both formats on it. so just be wary when buying it. ![]() **edit** even the sony pictures site says that it has widescreen.

That's just wrong. You should write to them and complain about the LACK of adequate labeling on the external packaging.

well, i watched a bit of each one, and can officially tell you all that they are NOT open matte. they are indeed pan and scan.
what really peeves me is that they had anamorphic widescreen transfers of the first 2 films in the prior releases. and also now i have to fight with Best Buy to return them because I'm not going to support full frame releases when i can get a widescreen version. so anybody have any suggestions on an impending fight with Best Buy on returning them as they are already opened? (my fight will focus on the fact that there is absolutely NO indication of screen format on the outer box, you HAVE to open them to find out the format). ![]()

alright, i sent an email to Sony. see what you think...
To whom it may concern. Please forward to head of DVD Marketing, DVD productions and Home Video Divisions. I have just purchased the Look Who's Talking DVD collection today. And upon opening it, I noticed that all of the movies in the collection are full frame only. Now, on your official site, you state that the specs for the release are widescreen and full frame for the first 2 movies, and full frame only for the 3rd. My problem with this is upon purchasing them, I was under the understanding that I would be purchasing widescreen versions of the first 2 films (along with the included full frame option). Your outer box has absolutely NO indication of screen format, so therefore you MUST open the collection to see the format the DVD's are in. My dilemma is now that I have opened them, the retailer (Best Buy) that I purchased them from will NOT accept a return (only for same title if package is opened), and I will NOT accept full frame DVD's as I am a believer in true Original Aspect Ratio on all films that I buy on DVD. I consider this false advertising (considering that your official site shows the DVD's specs as having a widescreen version of 2 of the films in this collection), and will be looking into avenues in which i can receive compensation. I find this completely unacceptable, and will no longer stand for your company releasing full frame ONLY DVD's when you have had previous versions of these DVD's in widescreen (anamorphic and non anamorphic). This, accompanied with the fact that you put NO indication that I AM buying a full frame release, I feel that I have been cheated by your company and have been falsely led to buy a product that I did not want. And, be assured, I am NOT the only person that feels this way about your company's DVD releasing tactics (I would suggest you have someone check into some internet DVD message boards and see what I mean). I cannot see how you would continually cater to all of the people who prefer full frame DVD's and TOTALLY neglect the ones that prefer Original Theatrical Aspect Ratio releases by replacing previous widescreen DVD's with full frame only re-releases (and keeping the same UPC on these re-releases keeps anyone from knowing if they are getting the original widescreen version). You do NOT realize how many people actually DO prefer widescreen. And now, after this incident, I have decided to boycott any and all DVD products released by your company and any of its affiliates. And I will encourage everyone I can to also do the same until you can finally release your DVD products to satisfy both widescreen AND full frame lovers. I own well over 1200 DVD's and from this day forward, NONE of my future purchases will include Sony, Columbia/Tri-Star and any other affiliated companies releases. If you are a company that acts on good graces (and would like to see your customers happy), It would be well of you to have me send you the "Look Who's Talking" and "Look Who's Talking Too" DVD's from this collection, and you can send me your previously released widescreen versions with no charge accrued to me (I will accept the third film in full frame, because I knew it was a full frame only release both now and previously). You should remember, that without people like me buying your product, you would not be in business. i encourage anyone else to do the same to webmaster@cthv.com. you can use my email as a template if you wish. here's hoping... ![]()

for the record, I am not a very big fan of Sony as a company, I have had difficulties with many of their products (both electronically and otherwise..) ![]()

Columbia/Tri-Star continues to lose points in my book. The fact that they did not indicate the aspect ratio on the packaging is really sad. Its omission would have been caught in the developing stages, so this is clearly a lack of care for the consumer, which is upsetting.
