Extras will include three deleted scenes (running to around five minutes in total), a thirteen minute making of Elektra featurette, a Comic-Con Presentation, an Inside the Editing Room feature which looks at the editing for several different scenes and both the theatrical teaser and trailer. Completing this new package will be a soundtrack promo and an Inside Look at the Fantastic Four and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Fox has yet to release the official package artwork I'm afraid, but we'll bring you that very shortly. Stay tuned.
I knew it wouldn't be a long wait.

I love Daredevil in the comics, and found the movie (especially the DC) to be surprisingly decent... Almost tempted to say blind-buy here, but the reviews are so bad...

"The First Big Flop of 2005!"

It is probably the biggest flop, given the larger budget.

I heard the bad reviews before seeing this, but being such a big Jennifer Garner fan, I decided to throw caution to the wind. So having really low expectations coming in, I found it to be pretty decent for what it was. Don't expect anything too original, though.

I'm sorry but I have to rent it. I would have seen this in the theaters but it got raped by the critics. I love comic book movies so I must know how bad this turned out to be.

If it were bad enough to be given the MST3K treatment, that would be one thing. But it's not. It's just so damn blah and boring and nothing. So much potential, so many ways this could have gone right, and it fell through into mediocrity with a whimper and never got up from it. Just... don't.

What Reaver said.

It's all true, such potential turned into such blandness. I too had low expectations going in after seeing the reviews and I was still disappointed. And I too am a big fan of Jennifer Garner. Elektra was so much better in Daredevil (original or Director's Cut). In the end the rating is this:

I had low expectations because of all the bad reviews and the bashing and I have to say that I rather enjoyed it. Not a great film, but not nearly the "crap" that everyone is making it out to be. I found it entertaining.

The beauty of Jennifer Garner aside, the film certainly isn't going to be considered a classic like "Spider-man" or "X-Men."

The film's plot is fairly pedestrian with lots of plot holes and such. Garner and the villains are underutilitzed. If you have high expectations, you're most likely to be disappointed.

Given all that, the film isn't nearly as bad as some would say. It certainly beats "The Hulk" and is Oscar material compared to "Batman and Robin."

Of course, neither of those two films had Jennifer Garner in red leather.

Hulk is one of the most horribly over-panned movies of all time. It's no Oscar winner, but it's a great movie in both style and drama, and except for the ending was as good a Hulk film as you could make, in my opinion. The only arguement anyone has ever given to me for hating it, other than the admittingly lame ending, was that it was "boring" or "slow", and since it is neither of those things compared to most DRAMAS, and a DRAMA is undeiably what it was, than I must say that most people's problem with Hulk was they expected something other than what they got and were pissed about it.

Well, frankly I kinda liked Hulk. Or maybe my expectations were never high to being with. Anyway, am just wondering whether there'd be a Director's Cut to Elektra (just like Daredevil). If that's the case, guess I'd just wait for that.

Yeah, Star Wars Episode II sucks hard.

"Elektra" isn't bad, though.

Sorry, man, I just couldn't resist tweaking you.

This movie is another shining example of what's wrong with movies based on Comic Books. They make to many changes and make the characters look stupid.

I saw this at an advanced screening here in Portland, OR. The screening was free and I still feel like I paid to much for it. People were leaving before the movie was over.

But where I think the movie failed was mostly in the script. It honestly felt like a made-for-tv deal, not a major motion picture. To many points brought up then ignored and I dunno, that chick who played Elektra, I forget her name, really annoys me for some reason...but I honestly don't know what it is about her that I don't like so I wont say much more on that.

DVD Answers has the front and back covers up. Lot's of humor to be found, most notably in the "sexiest action hero" comment, the mentioning of Daredevil (something I don't think they did for the theatrical promotion), and the completely unrelated to the movie "family guy and american dad" preview. Talk about a bunch of whores.

Re: Elektra [April 5th, 2005]

The blurb just screams "Rental"! ... Kind of like "Dungeons & Dragons" the movie (which I rented to watch).

Actually I thought Elektra was an enjoyable movie to watch.

What has Kanji characters on the DVD cover got to do with Elektra??

The "Looks CAN Kill" tagline confuses me though, since she has no good looks to speak of.

That's a matter of opinion, but either way I still think it's a cool looking poster.

I think I have loved just about every comic book movie that has come out recently, but this was horrible. It was just so dull and the villians were pussies. I don't remember the villians name, but the one who was thrown down the well. He kicks the shit out of Elektra twice and then is simply stabbed, what a huge cliche. The whole sai through about a half mile of bushes, retarded. I will say the villians were interesting and had a great look, but they were given no backstory. It was just a mess of a movie.

I just rented this and found it enjoyable but not outstanding. I wouldn't say it "sucked" but it was a decent rental.

Peace...

How does it compare to Catwoman? (I've seen neither, but have a morbid curiousity about both of them)...

...maybe a double bill/rental for a good night's laugh!?

I blind purchased both. I've viewed Catwoman once, and have wanted to "view" it again because IMHO it has a stand-out soundtrack with great surround sound and bass effects. The audio during the credit sequence alone is impressive. In contrast, I've started Elektra about three times but have fallen asleep each time somewhere in the first half. For background, I really enjoy and have viewed multiple times Daredevil, Hellboy, and Hulk.

Daredevil was based on source material I loved enough to buy both versions of the film, just to have them, and to see what they did with the character. The movie wasn't THAT bad, so I felt justified. I enjoyed it on some level.

Elektra I really didn't enjoy at all, so the chances of me picking this up, even if it restores the Affleck cameo, are slim,

I just finally saw Elektra and was pretty disappointed, considering how much I enjoyed Daredevil. I'll wait to see what's on this R-rated cut to determine if I should give this movie another chance.
