i know! i'm so bummed out that they haven't announced it yet..i expected it to make it's way to DVD quite fast since it sunk like a big rock at the boxoffice, but noooooo.. no announcement! they've even announced 102 Dalmatians (which was released on the same day as Unbreakable).

Buena Vista has already announced it's full April line-up too so we can't expect it until MAY at the earliest! boooo on you Buena Vista!!

Devil's Advocate mode on-

They might be holding off on announcing it on DVD for one reason-The Academy Awards.

It wasn't very successful, and wasn't reviewed as well as the Sixth Sense, but there might be a stipulation in Night's contract that stipulates Buena Vista has to invest some money in an Oscar campaign. And if that's the case, and it gets nominations, it'll be rereleased theatrically. And THAT would only delay a DVD release.

I'll bet we'll hear something about this flick being released on DVD shortly after the nominations are announced if it doesn't get any major nominations, and shortly after the Oscar ceremony if it DOES get nominations.

Devil's Advocate mode off

all i know about that is that it was one of the 8 films considered for "best sound effects", and 3 or 4 of them will get nominated.

let's hope you're right about that though.. i really want this DVD now!

I know it's gotta be soon. I was in the mall Sunday, and got hit up by marketers. They had four different covers for the Unbreakable DVD that they were testing.

Alas, I didn't have time to study them because they had me review a TV ad for Pearl Harbor.

really? hmm, i hope they use the poster artwork. it'd be great if they used the teaser poster but since it lacks pictures of the main actors it won't get picked. the regular poster looks pretty much the same with Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson's heads.. the score cd has the same artwork as well.

Ack! What a loaded question!

It seems that the movie tends to bring a love it or hate it feeling. I'd reccomend renting it or something before purchasing it. It defintiely tends to be polarizing.

Did you really think it was great great? Don't get me wrong, your entitled to your opinion, And if you think it was great then great. I just thought they tried a little too hard for the big suprise ending. I thought Sixth Sense was ten times better.

I don't think the surprise ending was really the point. I was generally surprised by the ending, but I thought that the rest of the movie was far more interesting. A miserable superhero is almost never portrayed on screen. Batman is lonely, but he is not cursed by his powers. Besides, the cinematography and editing in this film were brilliant. To me, the movie was like the first episode/issue of a great superhero show/comic book. I've always been fascinated by how superheroes get to be that way (the pilot of "The Greatest American Hero" is one of my favorite episodes of tv ever) , and I thought that this was almost the perfect evocation of it. The movie is haunting and brooding in the way that many comic-book style action movies have failed at. To me, along with "Darkman," this is the best non-comic adapataion of a comic book style hero in movie form.

Exactly.Besides, I've never seen such a movie before. Shyamalan created this super hero.Th movie is really like a comic book.Remember the frame in which he puts his "security" coat to his cupboard? Super cool, just like a frame from Spiderman..

Possible spoilers!!!!!!!!!

I loved the scene where he was heading towards the window looking for the kidnapper. The curtain kept wiping the screen, creating individual frames like in a comic book. Very nice!
