THX-1138

Yeah, I know, Lucas hasn't released ANY of his movies on DVD yet.

Any news on this? rumors? Insights from higher forms of beings?

I would actually like to see this on DVD more than Star Wars... Star Wars will come in time, but I have yet to see a decent copy of THX-1138 in any format...

Bring us the SE Lucas!

Also, make a point to track down Warner's SHORT #10: CHAOS--it's a DVD of award-winning short films, and its centerpiece is the original student film version of THX-1138, called THX-1138 4EB: ELECTRONIC LABYRINTH. It's pretty phenomenal stuff (especially for a student film--the sound design is jaw-dropping) and is a big help in tiding us THX fans over until Lucas does right by the feature version on DVD!

Yea! I've been waiting for someone to write about this title here. i "aquired" a widescreen VHS awhile back and i also have the P&S-VHS, and let me tell you, this is definately a case of the Pan and scan nightmare, the film is beautiful in widescreen. My tape came with the orginal student film and its really great.

So would someone please start a petition for Paramount to get this out on DVD!!!

THX 1138 : a modern masterpiece !

Anybody in here seen THX ? This movie is amazing. It reminds me alot
of some sci films today, especially some of the Star Wars movies. The sound effects and costumes in particular. The general look and feel of it
is so ¨Death Star¨ like.

I think whoever made THX should seriously consider legal action against
Lucas. What a rip off !

BTW, does anybody in here know why the movie starts off with that ridiculous 1940´s Buck Rogers trailer (¨Buck Rogers !!! in the 20th
Century!!!!¨) ?

I might need a hug.

Given the choice of those two shitty pics, I guess I'll take the two Yoko Ono wannabe's on the bottom.

I believe they are a pair of Bjork's.

How about a nice lil' hug, then?

Well it looks to me like that pic has gone off to the Land of the Unloadables; guess you'll have to make due with those rather friendly fellows

Lars,

You're fired.

Back on Topic.

Short 10: Chaos is well woth pickingup just for THX-1138 4EB alone.

Kinda hard to find in stores, might need to order that online or hit eBay.

I got all of the Short Series DVD's except one. I keep forgetting to order it.

Yes, during the HTF chat with Warner Bros., the studio rep did announce that THX1138 will be released in a 2-disc DVD set around the same time as the Star Wars trilogy, and it will be cross promoted with Star Wars. Lowry Digital Images is doing the restoration, and scenes that were cut by the studio without Lucas' approval are being reinserted back into the film.

American Graffiti, the student short THX-1138EB, TPM, and AOTC have all been released on DVD. Willow and Indiana Jones trilogy, films created and owned by Lucas, have also been released on DVD. Star Wars and THX-1138 feature film are coming in the fall!

From IMDB:

Quote:
In the original release the movie includes a one minute clip from "Things to Come" (1936) before the opening credits. When re-released in the 1990's this clip was replaced by a clip form "Buck Rogers" (1940).

Hey, you know what? We've got a perfectly good thread about the upcoming THX-1138 DVD right here.

We'll let this old dog go back to sleep and continue the discussion there.
