Any Reviews Of Blade: Trinity Unrated?
The due date is near. I am a Blade fan, but I have heard so many different diverse statements about this film, I don't know what to do. What does the unrated version include?

I don't know what the unrated footage will amount to, but I'll be getting it regardless. I thought Blade Trinity was better than Blade 2 (and I enjoyed Blade 2).

If you like Blade, you'll like it. If you like Ryan Reynolds, or don't mind him, you've love it. I kinda like him, so I loved it, definite buy. Jessica Beil(sp?) doesn't do enough that could hurt the movie. Just the fact that she fights vamps with headphones on, and sound is a very important factor in hand to hand combat. Aside from that, her character is fine.

Apparently the unrated version will have approximately 10 minutes of additional footage and is presented in widescreen and also contains the R-rated theatrical cut in widescreen. The rated version contains both the widescreen and fullscreen versions of the R-rated film.
I believe both have the same extras on disc two, but it looks like the rated version doesn't have any commentary tracks whereas the unrated one has two and Wesley Snipes doesn't appear to be invovled with either of them. http://www.newline.com/he/dvd/titles/bladetrinity.shtml |

Wesley Snipes came out against the film, I believe.
Anyway, this is a must buy for me. I don't know what it could possibly do wrong that would make me not want to see people kill vampires. That said, John Carpenter's Vampires was pretty bad. |

Wow, their rating of the movie scares me! Not good at all...
As for the transfer, whew...at least IGN liked that part of it. I missed this in the theater, but am a HUGE fan of the first 2. Just hope IGN harshed this one out. We'll see in a week. |

I love 1. I think it's one of the best comic movies out there.
I thought 2 was OK. Some good things, some bad things. I though Trinity was in between.

It was an OK movie, a couple of decent fight sequences. But from the IGN review, it sounds like the special features make this one worth owning (just like the "Star Wars" prequels). I can deal with picking it up for that, since I think I have a couple of gift cards lying around with a few bucks left on them.

I just picked this up today. Having missed the theatrical version, i can't say what the new stuff in the extended cut is, but i enjoyed it. Definitely the worst of the 3 films (Blade II is by far my favourite of the 3) but enjoyable enough in it's own right. I've not watched any of the extras yet, but the presentation of the movie itself was faultless. Here's some pics of the case/menus/etc. Incidentally, this release contains both R-rated & Unrated cuts of the movie, which makes me wonder why the hell they're releasing a theatrical version seperately as well?!

This just in.
VARIETY Posted: Wed., Apr. 20, 2005, 10:00pm PT Snipes throwing legal blade at 'Trinity' team Thesp accusing NL, others of contract violation, racism By JANET SHPRINTZ Actor Wesley Snipes has sued New Line Cinema, writer-director David Goyer and Toby Emmerich, executive producer of "Blade: Trinity," in a wide-ranging federal lawsuit seeking more than $5 million in damages. In a suit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Snipes alleges that in violation of his contract, the director, screenplay and supporting cast of "Blade: Trinity" were forced on him. He also claims he's still owed a portion of his fee and that he was harassed and defamed because of his race. New Line declined to comment. Goyer penned all three "Blade" scripts. According to the complaint, however, Snipes had concerns about him directing the third film in the trilogy and was not informed until six weeks before filming began that Goyer would direct. Similarly, he was not given an opportunity to object to the "juvenile level of humor" in the screenplay and the change in focus from the Blade character to two sidekicks. Snipes claims the real purpose of "Blade III" was to set the stage for spinoffs featuring other cast members. Snipes blames Goyer for the critical response to the film, citing reviews describing Goyer as a "disastrous choice" and calling the film a "bloody mess." Film, released last December, has grossed $52 million at the domestic box office. In money terms, Snipes alleges that he is still owed over $3 million on his fee. Furthermore, Snipes claims that because he was employed by a Swiss loan-out company and the movie was filmed in Canada, he should have been exempt from tax liability. But New Line withheld income taxes and failed to cooperate in obtaining a tax indemnity from the Canadian government. Snipes has had well-publicized tax problems in the past. Snipes also claims that in contrast to the first two "Blade" films, in which efforts were made to select a multiracial cast and crew, defendants intentionally hired only white people, leading to feelings of isolation and exclusion by Snipes. He also claims that Goyer made racially motivated statements about Snipes being unprofessional and difficult to work with, and that Goyer refused to discipline a crew member who wore a racially discriminatory T-shirt on the set. This is hardcore, god damn I guess there will be no more Blade movies in the near future. It sucks to see it come down to this, but Wesley is really making himslef look like a little bitch over this. OH well I am still buying the dvd on Tuesday. |

Wow, so that takes a bit of punch out of this upcoming DVD. Though Snipes does come across like a whiner in this article, there may be some weight to his arguement.
I did hear that the Director was chosen pretty late in the process, and if I was Snipes I might be miffed at that. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard there are too many one liners. I wondering if they were in the original script? If not, I'd be pissed at this too. The other stuff seems out there so I am not going to comment. It is a bummer though...wish they would have stuck with Del Torro. ![]() |

Hey, I can post!
Anyway, Goyer did a good job writing the first two, why would he fuck up the third, the one HE was directing? Sounds odd. If the script is as good as the others and it's just direction that's messed up, I can probably deal with it. We'll all find out in 5 days. |

I can understand why Wesley is pissed to be honest, the Nightstalkers characters (Reynolds in particular) do detract from Blade's character a lot & kinda relegate him to a bit-part role at times. The movie has way more comedy than the previous 2 films, which makes Blade/Wesley come off as a really miserable fucker in this one. The casting was nowhere near as good as the previous films either & the main bad guy was kinda lame. Still, it's not the trainwreck that others have claimed it is, it's just not a patch on the previous 2 movies.

Just watched the theatrical cut & it's a definite improvement on the extended cut. Most of the stuff that Goyer's put back in should have been left on the cutting room floor IMO & the movie flows a lot better without it. Only problem is, the seamless branching on the theatrical cut is far from seamless, & i noticed about a dozen small pauses (layer change style) throughout the film, which kinda ruined it a bit.
