Should I buy?

I saw the Tom Cruise collection (Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and Mission Impossible) at Best Buy when i was getting superman I and II today and was wondering if These movies will be re-issued anytime soon or is this the best we will get. I own all on VHS and I would think that even sub-par DVD's blow away VHS versions.

Thanks

top gun is a possibility, just because it's like everyone's favorite movie. i can imagine whatever studio has that might want to put out a better edition at some point, because people would definitely buy it.

days of thunder, probably not. it's not a very popular film, and i really don't know anyone who'd care whether it was reissued in a special edition or not.

mission impossible is a possibility, but probably not, because if they were going to reissue it they probably would have done it to coincide with the release of MI2.

I'm pretty sure none of them are due to be reissued in the next 6 months or so. And if you wait and wait "just in case" they do decide to reissue them, you might as well wait forever. it's one thing to wait because you know they're going to do a special edition soon. but i think it's just plain silly to refuse to buy a featureless disc just because someday someone just MIGHT release a new edition. especially if you really like the movie and it's not a ridiculously expensive disc.

Actually sara, surprisingly enough:
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html

for 4/26 talks about a possible 2002 MI SE.

It IS the Rumor Mill though.

Widescreen Review's most recent issue also says that a MI SE is in the works. The first one is non-anamorphic and bare bones.

The same issue also confirmed a thanksgiving-ish release date for Star Wars: Episode 1.

I would stay away from those box sets at best buy. It's usually cheaper to get them piecemeal. Their selling the Lethal Weapon director's cut box set for like $50, when you can get them separately for $14.99 a piece.

The director's cut box set only includes 1,2 and 3.
