That's actaully a good point. I might wait for SE also, now that I think of it. I just need to see it at this point.

This set sure looks sweet. I'll probably pick up this version and won't worry about a later SE. My DVD buying has slowed down a lot and I think I'll be happy with the Theatrical Cut.

Oh, I'm not doubting that there will be the other covers available for Canadians, but expect french on the insert, disc & boxart.

I think I'm gonna blind buy me this disc as I've not heard a bad thing about it.... and it shows Jess Alba CAN be in a good comic adaption!

Any idea as to when this super SE is supposed to be coming out(within the year, next year)? I really want to buy this, but I didn't fall in love with it in the theater(thought the female gang story went on too long). It's one, that the more I think about it, the more I like it, so I'll try to wait for the uber SE.

I wouldn't wait. I don't think we'll see the SE before Christmas.

If anything, pick it up used. But it should be about 16 bucks on street week, so why not get it?

DVd Files review is up, but I am sure most of us already noticed.

Ain't it Cool News has Harry saying the SE will be out for the holidays but remember that we're still waiting for an SE for Spy Kids. That's been how many years now? I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Sin City's SE either. I think you might see it when they need to promote the sequel in 2007.

I ordered the Dwight/Gail cover just now from Futureshop.ca. Love those nasty red lips and Clive Owen is such a badass. Great price too... 19.99 Canadian including shipping. I didnt see any mention of a shot glass though. does canada get the whole cast cover or just the various covers?

The "whole cast" cover is the one that's acutally on the case, the others are slip covers.

Circuit City is giving away Lobby Card sets. Which are replicas of the movie posters. 5 in the set, Alba, Murphy, Rourke, Bruce Benny T. Not a bad freebie, saves one from having to buy the multiple covers.

I picked this up today. I love the menus, but the thing that irks me is that the making-of featurette on the disc is the same featurette that was previously on the Best Buy Bonus DVD a few months ago. Lame.

Got it! Had originally ordered from Future Shop, but as of today, had not shipped. So I cancelled my on-line order and was going to go into the store and buy it.

On the way home is a Wal-Mart, so I thought I would take a look.

They were selling it for $23.84, so I grabbed the Hartigan/Nancy cover and went to the checkout asking if they would price match Future Shop's one day only price of $19.99.

Cashier called customer service, and I bought it for $14.99!

Someone had told that Wal-Mart that Future Shop was selling it for that price, and they just went along with it. Therefore, got it for almost $10.00 cheaper than sticker, and $5.00 cheaper than Future Shop!

This will be a grateful double-dip for me, as I will be buying the special edition as well later this year.

Maybe, I'll buy it from Wal-Mart...

I'm kinda surprised Wal-Mart was selling it for so much.

I am torn about what to do.

But I would like to point out that in the many interviews you can find online with RR regarding the SE. He mentions the SECOND disc would have the complete versions of the stories, which people can choose to view in whatever order they like. So obiously the FIRST dvd would include the theatrical version.

So I do not understand where the rumors of the theatrical version not being included in the SE are coming from.

With all that in mind, since there is always a chance the SE does not come out this year. I am thinking about picking up the dvd. I can handle bare bones releases of films since I buy dvds for the films themselves. Now if CC still has those lobby cards left tomorrow. I may pick it up....otherwise I may try waiting it out.

Then if no SE is out by Xmas,I'd pick it up most definitely.

Canada is a lovely place.

Got this today, of course, the Hartigan/Nancy cover. Great disc from the look of it, though I guess not for extras whores.

The transfer on this is wonderful. The sound and picture surprised me they were so good! I kept reading so-so reviews about the picture, but on my display it’s near perfect!

Ironically DVDFile is the only so-so review I've read or heard about. Everyone else says it's a perfect digital transfer with some very mild halos is a handful of shots. These halos most likely are do to the digital processing and the high contrast of the images and not that there was EE added.

My mom won't let me bring this movie into the house.

She "just dosen't like it". In fact, she checks my bags when I walk in the door for it No joke.

Oh well, I really wan't to see this , so one day I'll get it past her. (And if worst comes to worse, I'm moving out in a year anyway...)

Here is what Widescreen Review had to say about the sound quality;

"A strange shuffling distortion can be heard in the dialogue throughout the film, which really takes away from the experience the Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack is meant to provide.

Narration is recorded rather well, with superb articulation, but dialogue often sounds unnatural and distorted.

A tinny reverberation can be heard throughout the film when subjects talk."

I havn't heard it yet, hopefully I'll get my copy next week & I hope Amazon will give me the Bruce/Jessica slip cover.

I haven't heard it either. I watched it last night and I didn't notive that at all. I really liked the voice-over narration.

Is that supposed to be just on the Dolby? I watched mine in DTS(pretty high end sound system), and the dialog was crystal clear, no audible distortion.

From the same review;

"Dialogue sounds noticeably more refined in the DTS track, but the same shuffling and tinniness can be heard in it."

I'll obviously listen to the Dts soundtrack & its good to hear most everybody doesn't have a problem with it as I havn't gotten my copy in the mail yet & am really looking forward to seeing this.

No problem for me. I rewatched it last night and I didn't hear it, and I was actually listening for it. I thought I heard a little bit of it, but nothing serious enough to even warrent a complaint.
