Goodfellas SE?
I was thinking of picking up goodfellas, it is a great film even if warner chooses to realease it in a evil snapper case with hardly any extras. However, I think I heard something about there being an SE coming out in the foreseeable future. Can someone confirm this?

There was something to that effect on dvd.ign.com, I think. In general, I am holding off on buying Scorsese DVDs until Gangs of New York comes out this Christmas. I suspect after that hits theaters a lot of his movies are going to get the SE treatment (think of the coming wave of tricked-out Ridley Scott DVDs in the wake of Gladiator and Hannibal).
The DVD of Goodfellas is in awful shape right now (it's a flipper, even! I can't be bothered to get up to flip a disc over for a 140-min. movie). Some films, like his brilliant The Age of Innocence, aren't even available. And the only Scorsese disc I can think of that has any notable extras is the Criterion Last Temptation of Christ (the only Scorsese disc I own right now, though I've got just about everything else in widescreen VHS). |
