Complete (yet simple) DVD title listing?

Is there anywhere on the 'net that has a complete yet simple DVD title listing like the old Laserviews/Image Entertainment "Complete DVD Title Listing and Calendar" Web page (that seems to have been abandoned since March 9)? Many online retailers have categories and catalogs and they are difficult to navigate through (especially with slow modems like mine).

While Image's page was slow-loading since they put everything on one page, I always went back to look to see if there was anything I wanted to buy that I missed the first time around. E-mail to them have gone unanswered so far.

DVDFile.com's database always gives me errors. Can someone point me to a site that has such a simple list?

Mahalo,
Poidog

Good question, Poidog. I've been looking for a replacement myself, but I haven't found one yet, at least not one as comprehensive as the old Image/Laserviews list. If anyone knows of one, PLEASE let us know.

TheDVDList.com is not very simple but it is an extensive authoritative listing of what's available.

Superb! The site itself may not be exactly what I wanted, but the ability to download a complete list in Excel format is.

Thanks!

Well, it's a bummer again. The creator and webmanager of thedvdlist.com has decided to call it quits.

So, that leaves only DVDFile.com (which is not 100% accurate) that has a nice interface listing all titles in release.

dvdreview.com doesn't have such a list and of course Image Entertainment stopped updating their DVD Calendar (and still haven't replied to my inquiry about bringing it back).

That means DVDFile.com is still "the one!" Make this database a good one!

I use a great little program called Pumpikin MovieMan. The owners keep a complete database of all available DVDs, plus new releases and cover shots. Once you've paid for the registered version, it's easy to download the new databases every couple weeks.

Here's the URL: http://www.pumpkinsoft.de/movieman/

hopefully in 3-4 months we'll have a database that is quicker, easier to use, and easier for us to put in info on the discs... We're working on it... but developing a new database interface and backend will take a while.

I have a question about the DVD database search at DVDfile: I looked up The Great Rock N Roll Swindle and it was on there with no info, theres no info because it hasn't been released, but since its on your database, does that mean it could be in early, early, pre, pre-production?

Going through my old posts...

Is there a free program/Website that allows you to choose available titles from a database and then download them as an Excel or Access file? This is to create your own DVD inventory file.

When my old computer went kaput, my DVD inventory went with it and I was too lazy to go through all my titles (700+) and catalog them all over again. But my new computer didn't have the same application I used prior so I wouldn't have been able to retrieve it, even with the backup disk I had.

I started inputting new titles purchased right after the file went kaput but I got lazier.

I even tried to use DVDFile.com's database but when I got tired, I had to scroll through many pages just to get back to where I ended. Imagine if I stopped at the W, X, or Ys! Yikes!

Or do I have to resign to the fact that I need to just sit down and catalog my titles by hand?

DVDProfiler.com offers a piece of free software that will allow you to inventory your DVD's. You enter the UPC, it will download all of the additional information from their servers. You can export data from their program locally, as well as upload it to their server.

I did have a test today. That wasn't bullshit. It's on European socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they're socialists? They could be fascist anarchists. That still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car.

I am trying DVD Profiler and it is what I'm looking for ... for the most part.

Instead of typing in UPC codes, I'm using the database to just pick what I have. The only annoying problem is that there are duplicate (multiple) listings for the SAME title (same region and all). While it might be nitpicking, I don't know why there are these little differences.

But thanks for the referral!
