I'll check this out because I liked Man on Fire, but it looks like the same film made even more visually neurotic and less cohesive, which means I probably won't like it.

What complete and undeniable crap? It takes more than Keira to make a movie good and when she looked like a teenage boy from any one anime features then I'd say this should have stayed on the shelf.

I saw it (Doom, that is). I saw the whole thing...in theaters.

I tentatively plan to blind-buy this down the road. I'm surprised it was such a box-office flop. Maybe Knightly's redundant voiceover in the trailer is what sealed the film's fate. Or perhaps it was because Domino seems like such an unlikable character. Anyhoo, in Tony Scott I trust.

I really don't understand the hatred of this film or why it failed. I feel it's completely unfounded. I think what Scott did with this "true story" is exciting and interesting. I enjoyed every mintue. So there!

rented it yesterday.
Turned it off about thirty our fourty minutes into it.
What a piece of shit movie. Stylized to the point that it muddled the story. It was like watching a music video but without any good music.
I didn't care about anybody or anything that happened to them.
And I know this is something just personal but such a focus on people smoking disgusts me. Probably because I've watched close family members die from a lifetime of smoking.
Terrible terrible movie. I rate it as crappy as Doom.

I don't really care about the morals of it, but focusing so heavily on smoking is annoying because it's so tired and cliche.

"How do we make her look cool here?"
"I know, we'll have her smoking... and she'll blow out some smoke REAL SLOW!!!!"
"...... THAT'S PERFECT!"

I rented Domino, and I'm glad I did. Man on Fire was a very good film, bordering on excellent. Domino looks much the same as MOF, except MOF had substance, where this does not, just Keira striking as many hot poses as she can in a given shot. Another thing that really got on my nerves; when Keira did the voiceover, and for no reason in the middle of a sentence they did something to the audio to make it sound like she was talking through a cup into a microphone, highly pretentious.

The film completely lost me at the priest scene at the overturned RV, whatever that was. By the end I didn't know who kept shooting at each other or why, didn't care, and frankly hoped they all killed each other successfully.

And the half is for the Keira hotness. Really, they should have just taken most of her scenes, spliced them together with generic techno so she could use it as a reel for modeling jobs.

I wanted to like this so much! IMO, it was horrible. Tony Scott's worst film since Days Of Thunder.

I'm definitely demoting this to rental fare, since this is such a love it/hate it type of film. Anything that people can compare to Doom in terms of quality is suspect in my eyes.

I’m really surprised by the reaction to this film. What didn’t you guys like? I’ve heard people say they didn’t like the smoking and trust me I understand that notion, but it’s not something I hold against the film.

Rating it on the same level as “Doom” makes my head spin. I thought it was such an interesting and energetic work. I loved its playful nature and surreal blurring of timelines and situations. I think Scott’s visual style is perfect for the subject matter. It added this gritty hysteria to the film that I found exhilarating.

I’m not trying to start any “Underworld” fights here, I really am curious to hear more reasons for the dislike.
