Missing Scenes on Fantastic 4 DVD

I bought FF on the 6th at best buy, but didn't get a chance to watch it until yesterday, anyway, when i watched it i was shocked to see quite a few scenes had been taken out of the film including :

These Scenes could be spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie

The scene where Mr F "squares" his jaw and says "maybe you wanted a strong man" (this scene is now found as a deleted scene in 2 forms one as the normal one, and one where Mr f turns into hugh jackman)

The Scene when Mr F. bend his legs to get onto bended knee when proposing. He still asks her to marry him, but it no longer shows him getting onto bended knee using his stretch abilities

The part of the final fight where Thing bounces the water off of a stretched Mr Fantastic and at Dr Doom, in the DVD Thing just bends the hydrant and the water shoots straight at Dr Doom

I'm sure there were other things changed, but i can't think of any right now.(althought the music montage where Johnny puts shaving cream on things hand felt different)

The DVD doesn't say any thing about a director's cut, so does anybody have any info on why these sceneswere changed?

Thanks

uhhh... without Mr. F doing SOMETHING active in the final fight (other than coming up with the teamwork plan), he's even FURTHER neutered and made a bad character.

Well he still does stuff (rolls like a ball) and wraps himself around Doom, but on the DVd he no longer refelects the water onto doom

Which is sad because i loved that part of the final fight

All of the scenes you mentioned are on my DVD (which I bought at Wal-mart, not Best Buy).

Got mine at Best Buy too, and all those scenes were in my DVD.

Sounds like you got some sort of wacky scene-shortened special DVD.

EDIT: Nevermind, someone in another thread mentioned that they bought the R3 DVD and had the same problem you did. Looks like other regions got the shaft and got shortened scenes. Forgive me if I chuckle, it's really mean, but I guess I feel that since R1 didn't get a 2-discer like everyone else, at least we got the whole movie

Well... I'm admittedly naive on how things work up North, but don't sometimes you guys get different DVDs than us down here even though it's still R1?

Its usually just a packaging difference (some studios will have french on the package as well)

Unless maybe the scenes were cut for the canadian DVD release (although they were in the canadian theatrical release)

I watched F4 over the weekend and every scene you described was on my DVD.

While I haven't checked out F4 on DVD yet, us Canadians do get the shaft every once in a while on R1 DVDs. Most of the time they drop the DTS track but sometimes we get a sub-par transfer like in the case of The Pianist. Alliance Atlantis is the worst for this. It is possible that there was a different transfer used for the Canadian F4 DVD release...

Hell I watched the movie and barely paid attention to it and saw all the scenes you described. Granted they are very brief scenes so it's easy to see how they could be missed but they were there.

It was reported in Home theatre forum that indeed Canada got a butchered version of the film even though it is region one like the U.S.

The R3 version I watched was like that, but having never seen it at the cinema I didn't know any different, but did wonder why it was advertised as "International Version with High Quality Special Effect Performance," which it clearly isn't.

Here is some information on the alternate Reed and Sue scenes:

After reading around it also appears that this alternate cut of the film has bits of dialogue missing and Dooms voice, which sounds mechanical when he's in the mask, doesn't as much in the other cut.

Really, did they give a reason for the cuts?

I really liked this film and its really bugging me that i have to watch the butchered version (so much that if i can find it cheap on an american website i might buy it just to have the film i saw in theatres)

Another difference I've noticed is when Doom kills one of the investors in the car park, he fires a thick bolt right through the man's chest leaving a hole and we get two shots of this. In the special features, that clip appears a few times, but instead of a bolt through the chest you see lightning come from Doom's hand and deflect from the floor to the man, electrocuting him. Without seeing any other version of the film I don't know whether this is excluisve to the R3 one or not.

Wow that's some serious censoring. The version I saw you got a clear view of the giant hole through the dudes chest.

The version of that scene on the R3 DVD is the bolt through the chest, it's when it appears in the special features it's different.

Weird having unannounced different cuts of the same film on different regions anyway though.

Sounds like from all these differences there will be an "unrated" version coming in the future.

Yeah, i was just thinking that this film will probably be a double dip in the form of FOX's All Access colector's editions

And by the way DVDActive.com (formerly DVDAnswers.com) has posted a story about the differences including screen caps

http://www.dvdactive.com/editorial/a...fferences.html

But it doesn't mention why Canada got the altered cut of the film

that blows. i rented the Canadian DVD havign no idea that it was slightly cut. at least the wolverine scene is in the deleted/alternate scenes section (not sure about the other 2), but they are definately in the film. As well, the hole through the guys chest in the car park is definately there in my version.

oh well. its just a couple of teeny things.
