I certainly think there WAS more, since Ann tried to protect Kong when she was back in NY. When in NY, she's on her own turf and no longer in need of Kong's protection, let alone putting herself in harms way to protect Kong.

I wouldn't call the relationship romantic, but there most definitely was an emotional connection between the two. Maybe not full-blown mutual love between the two but I'm thinking Kong loved her and she cared about Kong dearly.

EDIT: By the way, I loved the A/V quality and Kong kicked ass!
