What do you wish DVDs had more/less of?

more substance, less fluff.

I wish they'd nix most extras. Not all of them. But most. I'd like the disc to spin right into the film. Screw the menus.

I also wish, since the studios seem to be Ultimate Edition happy these days, they'd release a version that is just the film. Giving full bit rate to both video and audio.

I also wish they'd up the bit rate for DTS back to where it use to be.

I also wish they'd make DVD cases out of wood. I'm tired of plastic.

More trailers in 5.1 surround, like in Star Trek First Contact. That trailer sounds great in 5.1. Same for Titanic. The following trailers are the specific ones I'd like in 5.1.....

The X-Files Fight The Future - love the trailer, but it could be so much cooler if it weren't in dull mono
Star Wars Episode 1
The Mummy
The Matrix

Can't think of any more right now.

I hate it when the menus have film clips, like when you select a submenu, and you have to view a clip before you get to the next menu (a la Crouching Tiger...).

I also hate the loud menu music.

Those are just nitpicks though.

I just hate that loud MGM logo thing. It scares me.

More english subtitles (or at least closed captions)
Less protective stickers (especially on snapper cases where the sticker rips off the color of the print

MORE extensive restorations of catalog title original film elements (a la SUPERMAN).

LESS quality control issues (a la botched subtitles on MGM titles, misframed shot on CHASING AMY, color timing faults on LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, etc.)

A curious mix of the best and worst in motion picture entertainment--that's right, it's Filmmaker's DVDTracker list!
...and the fun doesn't stop there--check out how the madness all began with Filmmaker's Laserdisc Tracker list!
