Please Help Me Identify This Movie
This is a (most probably) Disney Movie I've seen with my big sister when I was about 4 or 5. Since it's over 25 years now, my mind is obviously a bit foggy when it comes to the story, but maybe I can remember enough for somebody to identify it for me.
It had a castle with a ruling emperor, and he was looking for a certain necklace with a stone and a certain woman. He invited lots of women to his place, all wearing a similar necklace. But every one of them either didn't wear the right stone or weren't the one he was looking for and he eventually dumped them thru a trap door. Theat's about all I can remember. I reckon this is only about 5 minutes of the movie and I'm not sure if it's even a main part or not, but hey, I was 4 years old, for heaven's sake ![]() Thanx for any hints. ------------------ Unca Dom dvdfile.com Administrator pfleghaar@dvdfile.com My HT My dvd collection |

Hmmmm. . .any other "key" visuals you can give us? I've run searches on the info. you've given us so far. Nothing yet. Was this a Disney animation or live action? I assume live action.

I'm guessing that this wasn't a Disney film. It doesn't fit any of their animated features, and I don't think they did much live action in the 70s (25 years back).
Besides the animated-or-live question, can you remember any of the characters' names, or even an approximation of them? |

It was definitely an animated feature. Sorry, this sequence is all that's left in my memory.
I think the women (brides?) came to the castle with their respective grooms, but I'm not sure. Thank you so far! ------------------ Unca Dom dvdfile.com Administrator pfleghaar@dvdfile.com My HT My dvd collection |

No, The Black Cauldron is too recent (1985). The movie in question must be a pre-1980 release.
Although I saw it in Europe (and dubbed to german), I'm sure it was an american movie (Disney?). What other studios, if any, besides Disney released animated feature movies in the 70's? Do you think it could be The Sword in the Stone? But I guess not - I think I was a bit older when I saw this one in the theater. Is there a list of Disney animated features sorted by year of release somewhere on the net? ------------------ Unca Dom dvdfile.com Administrator pfleghaar@dvdfile.com My HT My dvd collection |

Here's a list I got from http://www.informatik.uni-frankfurt..../Features.html
There's more information about most of the films on this page, albeit with a few minor inaccuracies. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (12/21/1937) Pinocchio (02/07/1940) Fantasia (11/13/1940) Dumbo (10/23/1941) Bambi (08/13/1942) Saludos Amigos (02/06/1943) The Three Caballeros (02/03/1945) Make Mine Music (08/15/1946) Fun and Fancy Free (09/27/1947) Melody Time (05/27/1948) The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (10/05/1949) Cinderella (02/15/1950) Alice in Wonderland (07/28/1951) Peter Pan (02/05/1953) Lady and the Tramp (06/22/1955) Sleeping Beauty (01/29/1959) 101 Dalmatians (01/25/1961) The Sword in the Stone (12/25/1963) The Jungle Book (10/18/1967) The Aristocats (12/24/1970) Robin Hood (11/08/1973) The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (03/11/1977) The Rescuers (06/22/1977) The Fox and the Hound (07/10/1981) The Black Cauldron (07/24/1985) The Great Mouse Detective (07/02/1986) Oliver and Company (11/18/1988) The Little Mermaid (11/17/1989) The Rescuers Down Under (11/10/1990) Beauty and the Beast (11/15/1991) Aladdin (11/11/1992) The Lion King (6/15/94) Pocahontas (6/23/95) The Hunchback of Notre Dame (06/21/1996) Hercules (06/27/1997) Mulan (06/06/1998) Tarzan (06/18/1999) Fantasia 2000 (1999/31/12) I don't think any of these fit your description, Dom. There were other animated features in the 70s, however. [This message has been edited by Chris in OC (edited 06-08-2001).] |

D'oh! I don't know why I forgot this site. Go to Jerry Beck's Cartoon Research at www.cartoonresearch.com and you'll find lists of all animated features released in the U.S. from 1937 to present. There may be some that were released in Europe but not the U.S., but it's a good starting point. Good luck!

Drexl,
yes, exactly. I have no idea what the movie was all about except that little scene that, for some reason or another, stuck in my memory. Thanx for this list and the links, guys... looks like I'll have to dig deeper into that matter than I thought I had to ![]() ------------------ Unca Dom dvdfile.com Administrator pfleghaar@dvdfile.com My HT My dvd collection |
