Cast Away Box Glitch

The back of the box claims 2.35 A/R, but indeed it's a 1.85. Just fyi.

Welcome to the forum radio_ned!

Since this ain't a glitch you're having really and more just some good info, I'll move to software.

The thing that really trips me out about this is that, lately, all of Zemeckis' films (FORREST GUMP, CONTACT, and WHAT LIES BENEATH) have been 2.35:1. Though certain directors have been known to vacillate between the two common aspect ratios (e.g. Steven Spielberg's ALWAYS--1.85:1, HOOK--2.35:1, JURASSIC PARK--1.85:1), I find it disconcerting and perplexing. I didn't remember CAST AWAY's screen dimensions in theater, though I'm sure 20th Century Fox transferred it correctly (which www.imdb.com verifies). How odd...

...I guess if it comes down to a choice between a mislabelled CAST AWAY case and MGM's vanishing burned-in subtitles, I'll go with the former any day!

Cast Away was 1.85:1 in the theater, and I'm pretty sure that Forrest Gump and What Lies Beneath were the same ratio.

I can vouch that Contact was in glorious 2:35-to-1. I loved that movie.

Did I mention that Sagan's Demon-Haunted World had a profound impact on me? So did this film.

Sagan was the man!

So was WHAT LIES BENEATH.

Sorry, Dehrian, but the facts are the facts...

Forrest Gump was 2.35:1? Really? Hmm, gonna have to check on that. Could have sworn it was 1.85:1. What Lies Beneath I can see myself being wrong on as I only saw it the one time in the theater, but I could swear Gump was 1.85....
