How annoying is this?...........
I just received my Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon DVD and the DVD was loose in the box. Actually the 'pins' that was supposed to keep it locked have been broken.......
![]() Thinking about it, this happens on an occational basis to me and what worries me is always that when 'floating' around in the box the DVD will get scratched by the existing pins that has not been broken off. Do you see this often? What do you do about it? Send it back? Now I have to find a place where I can buy a new box. ![]() I HATE THIS! ------------------ Ashenden|TheSignFormerKnownAsMyDVDList "And if I may say so, that's a smashing blouse you have on....." I'm with ya.
This is one of my major bitches about "pin" style cases. . .as well with CD jewel cases! Man! Do those suck, or what!!!???!! First, if you bought the disc locally, try to exchange it. If you bought this online, then play the DVD and see if it was damaged. I haven't come across a disc that was unplayable due to it being loose in the case while shipping. DVD/CDs seem to be able to take plenty of abuse. Okay. . .If it plays, then it's your call at that point. Return it or find a new case. Either way, it's a pain in the butt. ![]() ------------------ ..:: Eye | Moderator | MSN: ugsome@hotmail.com [This message has been edited by Eye (edited 06-09-2001).] |

Hm I will do that.......
Looking again at the shipment of DVD's that came in today I realize it is not Crouching Tiger but Traffic that has the problem. The type of pin that holds the CTHD DVD is actually better and I have never had problems with that (you know the two-pin system with Push/Here on). The Traffic DVD was (supposed to be) hold up by all these little pins and most of those have broken off..... Sorry for the confusion..... Hey....ITS STILL P...... ME OFF! ------------------ Ashenden|TheSignFormerKnownAsMyDVDList "And if I may say so, that's a smashing blouse you have on....." [Bottom] |

I had the same problem with my copy of Big Trouble in Little China. The first DVD was just floating free. What's really annoying is it isn't even one of those style cases with the "pins" holding the DVD in. And even more annoying is this was the second copy of this set I've had. The first both disc were secured, but damaged anyway, so I exchanged it. Make you wonder what the hell they're doing to these discs.

This was my gripe when there was the Amaray vs. jewel case long ago... I prefered the jewel case because they were sturdier and easier for storage.
However, when the Alpha case came out, that became my favorite. I've said it before, I'll say it again: Studios, invest in the Alpha case! The Big Trouble in Little China case is the Alpha case so I'm not sure why yours broke. I've never had a problem with this case. Nothing will ever be perfect, but people should be able to get a refund/exchange somehow. ------------------ Aloha & Mahalo, Poidog [This message has been edited by Poidog (edited 06-11-2001).] |

Loose Pins?? You think THAT'S BAD?? Well when "Almost Famous" came out, I bought it at Best Buy. I quickly Opened it and put it in my DVD player. For some reason it wasn't working, So I KEPT pressing the PLAY button. I gave up and took the disc out. Low and behold one of the ANTI THEFT stickers (the little black rectangular ones) was ON the bottom of the DVD!! I was so mad that I went to Best Buy eventhough it was during rush hour and I exchanged it for another copy, good thing they didn't give me any trouble. The disc was unopened, I wonder how this happened.

Best Buy will exchange anything. No questions asked, they will not even ask for a reciept.
I have had a couple floaters and have found that Best Buy will exchange with no hassles like with returning. I got T2 ultimate edition from Express with NO DISK I had a devil of a time getting a replacement. ACK! I believe that Best Buy is happy to replace damaged disks because they get a credit from the producers just like an online company would. No one gets screwed and you have a disk almost imediately. ------------------ David Brown Eyes Moderator of the Now Playing and software forum. "Pass the Lord and praise the ammunition! In regards to the Best Buy's return policy, I was surprised to hear they would even accept something without a receipt. I wonder is it possible to exchange a disc that I never even bought from them?
I have a couple of discs I bought online, (Lawrence, Seven, etc..) that have broken spindles, while others are scratched up (Walkabout, Amadeus) so you think they wont mind if I just walk in and ask for a fresh new copy |

This happened to me with Edward Scissorhands, I ordered it from buy.com and the piece that holds the disc in place was broken, i'm so glad the case is a silvery grayish color and can easily be replaced (sarcasm). Other wise if this happens, i go to circuit city or walmart and get the AOL free hours discs that come in the DVD case, these are free and save me some money. As far as cd's go, this usually happens to me if the tray is colored or clear, so its harder to replace.
