Wanted to order the newly released The Quiet Earth as well as the Justice League and Batman: The Animated Series sets I don't have and a few Criterions (Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Videodrome and a few others on my wishlist). However American Express seems to have screwed me royally, so nothing for me.

I was gonna get some HD-DVDs, but even with the 20% discount, the price is still a bit high.

I don't know yet but I plan to get something. It's been a while since I've bought DVDs for myself.

When I've made some purchase decisions, I'll post them here.

EDIT: So far, it looks like Bamboozled and Girl 6. Used DVDs on Amazon are so cheap, for some of the titles I want, the DDD sale isn't worth it to me.

Peace...

Due to always being broke at the time of the 20% sale, I have never ordered any DVDs to take advantage of the low, low prices... until now.

Does the shipping take a lot longer than usual? Even though I live less than 10 miles from their warehouse, it still takes about a week (sometimes longer) to get the DVDs when their isn't a major sale.

While I occasionally pick up DVDs at their Outlet Store, I was not able to get there this time around before the sale ended.

I've not noticed that processing or shipping takes any longer; with the exception of one backordered title that shipped two days later than the others, my order placed on the afternoon of the 13th arrived in the Twin Cities via free shipping on the 17th. Not too shabby.

I ended up getting:
Kino's recent Haneke releases (Seventh Continent, Benny's Video, 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance, and Funny Games) and Antonioni's The Passenger. Hooray (I guess) for art meeting pocketbook-friendly commerce!

Thank goodness for Silent Bob! I bought a large order too and almost all was in stock, and I paid the $8 or so for 2nd day shipping. The order came last Friday, and included (partial list):

Planet of the Apes Ultimate Edition (wife hates the staring head!)
Beverly Hills Cop Complete Line-Up
Airport Terminal Pack
Blue Velvet
Dr. Jekyll & Sister Hyde
Scanners
Raw Meat
Sidaris Triple B Collection Vol. 1
Knightriders
Soylent Green
Night of the Living Dead (Remake)
To the Devil A Daughter
Dragonslayer
Incredible Mr. Limpet
Wolfen
The Crazies
Stepford Wives (Orig)
Deathdream
(Waiting for Freaks, It's Alive, Eyes of Laura Mars, and Paul Newman Collection)

Total shipped order was $445 and waiting for about $60 more next week)

It's an expensive hobby but I really don't like renting, and keep my eyes open for good deals. Plus I'm a lousy carpenter but I've made some DVD shelves that worked out pretty well.
