I already have the complete Nightmare boxset, and I refuse to double dip on this.

I love these movies I will double dip for this. Though, I'm hoping for an HD-DVD announcement for this as well. I emailed Newline about it, their response was; "we haven't made an official announcement about that just yet". So I'd bet we'll hear something between now and September about an HD-DVD release.

I had the big box set, got it when it first came out and never watched any but 1 and 5. So I'll be all over this one.

Yeah, I'm a Nightmare On Elm Street whore so I'll be buying this one.

I wish they'd do something for Part 3 as well.

A definite buy for me

Though I really wish they'd keep their publicity pictures right. Part four on the spine and Freddy vs. Jason on the front? Tsk tsk

Elm Street to horror is what Star Wars is to science fiction. (at least for me)
I'll buy every damn version of every damn movie they come out with no matter how shitty the movie is.
*sigh*
Pathetic isn't it?
Here's a pic I took of the REAL Elm Street house I took on my trip to E3 last month.

Note in the movie the address was 1428 Elm St. In real life the house is actually located at 1428, just not Elm St.

I see they've gotten a new door.

That house is the first place I plan to go to whenever I visit L.A.

It's nice to see that the owners haven't changed it much, unlike the Exorcist house which is barely recognizable.

It's right off of Sunset Blvd. Literally walking distance.

Here's hoping they include the other alternate ending and deleted scenes from the old LD special edition that were nowhere in the NOES box set...

Are you sure? At the end of the maze in the Encyclopedia disc, there were like 4 alternate endings to Nightmare 1.

Yeah, I made a list of all the stuff in the NOES box set, and there were 2 alternate endings for NOES 1 on the LD, and the box set only had 1 of them.

There were also some other little things on the LD that made no sense to leave off.

I'll see if I can find a list of them if anybody's interested.

This is one of my favourite movies & it still scares the living shit out of me. Hopefully it'll be the uncut edition instead of the R rated version they released last time, i personally find the (very minor) cuts a little bit jarring since i grew up waching the full version. Hopefully the deleted scenes will be in there too, it'd be ridicuolus to leave them out again. Anyways, a definite double dip for me, ill buy anything Elm Street associated. Hell, they could release all of the sequels as well & i'd pick those up too, even though a few of them are painful to watch.
Here's the limited edition artwork.

I'm seriously hoping it contains the deleted scenes - a massive item missing from the damn box set (which I think was rather impressive at the time), if only so I can shitcan my 2xVHS of ANOES.

If it's not, I'll finally give in and track down the old laserdisc.

I bought the original release a few months ago, because it was part of a 2 pack with Jason X at wal-mart for 7.44. I still have to get the box set, but I'll still buy this new version. I hope these deleted scenes that I keep hearing about will be there.

Looking at it again, both alternate ending were in the box set, but there were a dozen or so deleted scenes, some of them quite substantial on the LD.

It would be real nice if they gave a seamless branching viewing option for the film. The kind where it just pops up an icon that you can click on at the point the deleted scene would have been (like X-Men 1.5) since the majority of there were in really crappy old-vhs-workprint quality.

Well it was Wal-Mart. They do have odd packagings sometimes.

I really dig the new cover art with just the glove. Too bad it's not the original artwork, then again that's on the box set.

And by deleted scenes do you refer to the real ending for Tina? I remember as a kid seeing Tina's death be a bit more bloody, because when she fell on the bed there was a big wave of blood that splattered. Even on the current dvd, you can hear the splash sound, but you don't see her. I remember that scene vividly as a kid because I went, "No one has that much blood." Of course, seeing Johnny Depp die later on was even more incredible. Why show that and edit Tina's death?

I'll be glad to double dip on this one. The regular edition artwork is nice. Wish the limited ed. looked that way.

Yeah, that was one of the edits i noticed straight away when i saw the current DVD, having grown up watching the European version. I agree, its a crazy cut compared to what's left in the rest of the movie.

Don't know what the initials mean, but they are refering to the house thats in all the Freddy movies, where nancy lives in the 1st one. I too plan to see it when I get to L.A.
