Night Watch

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this movie already (I did a search and it came up with nothing). I just got done watching it, and I have to say I'm mightily impressed. Sure, it's a bit all over the place, and it kinda throws you in without much of a float, but I love the confidence the movie had in itself. The special effects were outstanding as well, which really helped sell the plot. It wore it's influences on it's sleeves a bit too much (the Blade series, Highlander, The Matrix, The Prophecy, Underworld, stuff like that - hell, it even had some Bluffy playing on a TV), but perhaps that's for the best. All in all, I had a real enjoyable time watching te film, and I've heard the sequel, Day Watch, is even better. I highly recommend it.

One last thing, why can't more movies use subtitles like these? Dear god, ingenious stuff. Other subtitles just seem lazy now in comparison.

The Now Playing thread did not get much play...who knows if the DVD will.

I actually watched this last night...quite enjoyed it..if not for its interesting story but for the various camera and CGI that you know was done on a low budget. I am looking forward to the second whenever we get it.

There's a Night Watch t-shirt hanging in my closet which was given to me my during entry to a Fangoria convention last September. It's a pretty swell tee so I should probably check out the movie sometime.

I thought the trailer looked interesting. I'll give it a rent for sure.
