American Pie: Ultimate Edition

So, is anyone forkin' over the cash to get American Pie: Ultimate Edition?

I have the first release and I'm NOT getting the UE.... I'm tired of this crap....

This re-release crap is really starting to affect my collector mentality... I'm starting to lose interest in buying DVDs.....

Peace.....

Even if I was a fan of the film, I would not dare fork over the cash. At the same time, they are putting consumers in a catch 22 situation. If people try to make their message heard by closing their wallets, the studios going to think that consumers don't give a damn about quality because they don't buy the Uber edition.

If anyone can come up with a way to show the Unviersal that we don't appreciate this type of abuse while at the same time showing that we still want quality, please give us your idea.

Personally, I don't plan on buying any edition of that particular movie. But I sympathize with the situation. I did buy the "Mummy: Ultimate Edition" but I had not bought it previously. So I don't feel bad. But it seems like every couple of months, the studios rerelease a DVD. When I buy "The Mummy Returns" are they going to rerelease it in April? Will the same thing happen for "Star Wars"?

i agree. i already bought a "scrumdiddlyumptious" version (i thot) and i cant see why i could give a crap about ANYTHING they all had to say in addition to the drivel i was subjected to with the initial release (unedited or whatever)
as for not wanting to but more, im also becoming jaded. i am ALWAYS scouting for new discs, a great customer, as im not only out there getting "the english patient" and "titanic" i go for a full spectrum of filmic(?) works. BUT, now i dont even want to buy available editions of even so-so movies that id like to own, as i have been conditioned to expect a "newer, better, mega-blammo-gold-variant edition" of everything. im running scared.

I bought The Mummy UE because I wasn't sure I wanted to add that title to my collection after I first rented it. I was satisfied with the first release and when I had decided to add it to my collection, I heard about the UE so I waited.

I'm not sure if I'll buy Mummy Returns due to a possible UE release. If I wait, I don't get the best price.

Conversely, I've been waiting for the Nixon E to be released and I understand that won't happen until the current release "surplus" is almost drained...

I don't want the Oliver Stone box, just Nixon SE. So, I guess I'll be in a holding pattern until the Nixon SE comes out as a standalone release, whenever that will be. Until then, I am denied access to Nixon (unless I rent). If I go ahead and buy the current Nixon, the studios will release the SE because I would have already spent my money on it and the studios like having their way with me...

Laserdiscs were not this complicated. If a laserdisc was re-released, it was usually YEARS before that happened, not months....

Oh well...... Anybody got a copy of Nixon SE they want to sell?

Peace.....

This whole UE reissue thing has gotten WAAAY out of hand.

Maybe we should make life easier for the studios and just give them our bank acct numbers and be done with it.

I have the Collector's Edition of the Unrated cut and I am definitely not buying this movie again.

When is the UE of "Jaws" coming? C'mon, with all these crappy movies given the UE-treatment (Patch Adams, Meet Joe Black) it's time for a classic to get the place on DVD it deserves.

I have the box set laser if you want it. It doesn't have the commentary but it has the hour of deleted scenes. The print is the same though as both DVD versions were non-anamorphic.
