If/When we get Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD...

...can the cobra reflection at the moment Indy's rope snaps lowering him into the Well of Souls be removed? This is possibly my favorite movie of all time and I would virtually kill to see it on DVD, but if that reflection is still there it would be a serious bummer. Anybody have an opinion on this or maybe some inside info/rumors?

Are you kidding? That goof is part of the movie. It'd be as bad as the Greedo-shoots-first edit of Star Wars.

I agree with Taxi, I didn't mind too much what was done with the Star Wars films, but overall I think the only time a film should be "retouched" is in the case of film restoration.

I think they did something like this on the Fugitive. There was the shadow (?) of a crew member in the train sequence and they digitally removed it in the latest SE release.

If it's taking out something like that (crew/equipment in the shot that doesn't belong) I don't really have a problem with it.

But if the director feels he has to make a change to the movie's story, then I would prefer that they do it via seemless branching so we can view the movie they orginally released to the theaters.

Actually, you can see the guy's face looking in the direction of the camera.

I too vote that you can "fix" a movie, so long as it's not a major change...just stick to technical goofs.

Take out the matte lines in Star Wars, but let Greedo shoot first.

Take out the cobra reflection from Raiders, but let Belloq eat that fly.

Take out Han's reflection outside the shield generator bunker in Return Of The Jedi, but let him still be a pathetic, wet characiture of his former self...ummm...uh oh.

I'm actually looking more forward to Temple of Doom, guys. But I can't wait to get the trilogy.

what would be really cool is if they took it out, but then gave it to you as a special feature, in case you were longing for it.

I tortured myself by watching Last Crusade on USA network this weekend. Bad idea, as it only made me want them more.

Rogue 2,

I would love to see Temple of Doom on DVD as well. It baffles me how some absolutely HATE this installment of the trilogy. My best friend is beside himself because he thinks it will be a 3 disc DVD set ala The Godfather and he'll be forced to buy it. He absolutely LOATHES the Short Round and Willie Scott characters. I just don't get it. If I had to rate them I would rate TOD 3rd, but it's still a VERY fun movie.

No worries, I love Temple of Doom. I don't think I have a favorite one in the Indy trilogy, honestly, I love them all equally. I used to not like ToD as much, but a few years back I realized it was almost a satire of dark, gory action movies, and found the brilliance in Spielberg's work. It's a damn good movie and I want them ALL on DVD, and I want them all to have 2 discs each and loads of features.

I like TOD as long as Kate Capshaw's not the on the screen.

Raiders is far and away my favorite of the three, though. It's my favorite action film of all time.

Temple of Doom is actually my favorite as it's the most cinematic of the three. It is so amazing on the big screen. I urge everyone to see it if they can catch it at a museum or something.

Any on who hates Temple of Doom cannot deny that it had the best opening and final scene of any Indy film.

It's the only one where the title appears onscreen in the orange typeface of the posters. I love the other two films, Raiders does have a better story, but Temple of Doom, for me, is just more watchable.

I see Raiders about three times a year, but I watch Temple more like eight or nine times. Same thing with Godfather 1 and 2. 2 might be a better film, but I watch part 1 a lot more.

I always loved ToD. The opening sequence was just fantastic, even if Indy wasn't wearing the fedora or his leather jacket. But I like Raiders just as much. They are both really great. LastCrusade I would put a bit lower. Still a lot of fun, but not as good as the first two.

Also, the score and soundtrack for part 2 had some really great stuff in it.

I can't wait for these to come out on dvd, does anyone have a "speed up time" machine?

I wish they'd release a complete soundtrack for Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. Like a box set or something for the trilogy.

I agree that Last Crusade is not quite in the same league the first two, but it is still a great movie. The Sean Connery factor is always a plus.
