The Matrix

Did anyone notice that The Matrix has slipped to position 20 in the Videoscan sales chart for this week?

Uh-oh... I had better start buying copies to bump it back up to the top 15 at least....

Does anyone know where I can see real numbers for total sales for these movies:

The Matrix
Gladiator
Big Trouble in Little China
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Croughing Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Thanks!

Peace.....

Bar of soap here!

I thought it was a cool little promo gift but my wife never hesitates to point out how goofy she thinks it is!

From where did you get your copy of Fight Club? I bought mine from DVD Express and it came with the soap.

Peace.....

you guys got bars of soap?! damnit all to hell!
all i got was a Paper Street Soap Co. business card, but on the back it was a 10 minute phone card in Tyler Durden's name.

i think that Matrix dropping out of the top 20 is one of the signs of the apocalypse. the more i watch that film the more i dislike it.

Damn that is such an awesome promo for a disc. I live down in Australia and they screwed the release of fight club down here. Not only did we get it about 8 months after you guys. It was missing the fincher and producer commentary track and there were no cool little promotional items like that.

Man us region 4 guys get stuffed arround for both release dates and the quality of the extras on the final release.

Well, I guess my efforts helped. I've given 5 copies of The Matrix to people, with 2 more copies left to give.

The Matrix has climbed back to position 15 in the video scan sales charts.

I feel good.....

Peace....

Why are you so interested in keeping The Matrix up there? Do you have a personal investment in the film?

NO, I don't have a personal interest in the success of The Matrix, but considering how GREAT of a DVD it is, I would like to see it remain in the top 20 sales rankings for as long as absolutely possible.

I mean this DVD is a few years old and it is of better quality than some NEW DVDs coming out today, not to mention the fact that this DVD is reguarly used as the "de facto" DVD player test disc.

Besides, I like the way Morpheus talks...

Peace.....

I wouldn't say it's that great. There are better. You can't even watch the trailer without a DVD-ROM, for chrissakes.

Agreed, you should be sending people copies of Fight Club or T2: UE.

Actually, I've done that too..... I've bought 5 copies of Fight Club (so far) and given 4 as gifts......

I've bought 2 copies of T2UE and gave one as a gift......

I guess since The Matrix has been in the top 20 for SOOOO long I want to see how long it can stay there.....

Peace....

Is there anyone that has The Matrix Box? I am considering buying it, it seems like a good box. Any comments? BTW While surfing around I've seen three different sets for it.
The Matrix - Deluxe Collector Box
The Matrix - Platinum Collector Box
The Matrix - Signature's Series Collector's Box
FYI, I don't live in Canada. Just using this as reference. I have a bad feeling that the Signature series are in the homes of die hard fans

I hate to derail the topic back to the Fight Club soaps and business cards some of you say that you got, but... Let's talk more about the Fight Club soaps and business cards that some of you say that you got.

I have never heard of this before. I bought my copy of Fight Club in December, and neither one of those were included. Was this only when the movie was first released on DVD or what?

Oh well, just curious is all. Like I said, I had never heard of anything like that being included with the set until just now.

And just so this post isn't a complete waste of this thread's space, Matrix dropping out of the top 20 is a real shame . I say we organize a "Matrix DVD Week", where we get as many people as possible, to buy as many copies of The Matrix as they/we can afford! Plus, we all know how much Warner Brothers needs our endorsement and cash...ok, maybe not.

I think the soap thing was a promotional thing by Express.com.

Also, I'm sure that it will spike back up again when the advertising campaign for the sequel to the Matrix starts up.

Correct, Express.com included bars of soap with preordered copies of the Fight club DVD...

But they did not include them for overseas preorders
