I seem to be getting myself lots of DVD's lately when I should be saving for a new computer of my own! But this is what I got:

Antz signature series (great)
Cast Away (great, love those menus)
King Kong vs Godzilla (cheapie, but it was a great price. I had to get it to go in my Big G collection)

Hey you got the Alien Legacy huh? They are like some of my favorite films ever. I'm a huge Alien fan. I even love Alien 3, I just don't see what people seem to hate about it.
I think my fave menu is the one to Aliens.

"Let's ROOOOOOCK!" -Aliens

I also loved Ferris Beullers Day Off!
My fave part is when the principal thinks that girl's dad is on the phone and he realizes he just told him off. HAHA I love it.

It's been a good year...

Plus, living in New York, the cost of living is higher, and so are the salaries. I live in Brooklyn and hardly leave my house... I don't go see movies in the theater anymore, unless it's a GREAT movie... and so I spend all of my money on comic art and DVDs.

My wife loves this movie, so I ordered it for her.

I will not be ordering Oscar.

Actually, they're releasing The Underneath and Village of the Damned in a value pack, so I ordered it. I would very much like to see a release of King of the Hill...

John Waters did not direct She-Devil, Susan Seidelman did. Hopefully you will not order "Stop, or my mom will poot!"

Is that the same version of "The Underneath" that Universal already released? Or is it anamorphic, extras?

Ha, I changed it just before you did this post, heh. I got Waters confused, somehow...

It's the same release, I believe. It's just a value pack, and to be honest, I'm getting it more for the Carpenter version of Village of the Damned then I am for The Underneath... although I wanted that anyway, a win/win situation.

No "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!" movies for me. I just couldn't live with myself.

Have you seen "Village of the Damned" recently? I saw it when it came out, and I thought it was terrible yet amusing, Carpenter seemed to be aware of the wooden acting and Kirstie Alley's scenery chewing (I feel like quoting the Village Voice's review of Planet of the Apes, when, in reference to the original and Heston's acting, called it a "I can't believe I ate the whole scene" style). When I saw it a few years ago while writing a paper on Carpenter, I realized I was wrong, it was simply terrible, and Carpenter had no idea (although I still snickered at Mark Hamill's priest).

I paid $12 dollars Canadian for each. So that is $36 CND, which is about $20AMR for all three. Very good bootlegs too, the worst part is the chinese subs, but the do not intrude on the image. They even have the THX laserdisc intros, and those cool DD intros.

Wow, you got a very good price snake! I payed about 36 american....

The quality isnt the best though, it looks like every 2 chapters go through a layer changer(probably were the sides ended on the LDs) and the video is soft, but i think its a good way to preserve the original trilogy. I'm still going to buy the official Lucas DVDs when they come out, so no loss for him. oh yeah, the ones i got do not have mandatory subtitles...you can disable them, and they have about 4 optional subtitles. They also include a couple trailers, interviews, and some other neat stuff. Very cool for some boots... plus its not edited, they are the originals!

My original boots sucked though, they had no special features, were the special edition versions, and had english and chinese subtitles that were burned in the letterbox area, and would sometimes intrude on the picture...the english ones bothered me the most... though the 5.1 sound was great. The version i just got registers as 5.1, but i think its just the 2.0 track encoded as 5.1, since there was never a 5.1 version of the original trilogy, but its still good enough.

Well, I'm a huge Carpenter fan, and, sure, there's some terrible stuff in that film... but I think there are some neat things as well.

I didn't like ILM's work at all, I thought it was like hand-me-down work.

I just bought T2 and Superman 3 the other day. And I preordered Snow White (with the Little Mermaid).
I want to be sure to go out and get The Goonies and Batman: The Movie at the end of the month.

Hey Snake, did you get those SW boots online? At that price I think I'll get me some too, but I hate hunting around Chinatown for stuff.

Didn't get mine online. I know a guy that owns a DVD used/new, etc little store and he sold them to me. He bought them off a guy who bought them on ebay. Then sold them to me at his buying price. Good deal.

To those that own the Star wars bootlegs, are they the originals, or the craptastic(special) editions? And are they of high enough production value that they are not on burned dvds? (My player won't play burned ones)

for my gal: Head Over Heels
tho i must say, its not the worst of its type ive had to sit thru.
para mi: Vampire Hunter D - kind of a let down. my mind was expecting an AKIRAesque redo, but alas, no. same ol same ol, but the flick is still a fave!

and a lil off topic, i need advice:
I semi-recently purchased the AlienS Sp. Ed.
super movie. I had hesitated to buy the box cuz i thought that the included discs were movie-only editions. Obviously they're ALL the super duper awesome edition, so my question is this. In your honest opinion, to grab the three others should I:
a)give, trade, break, sell, the AlienS that i have and pony up and get the box set ($90.00)
or
b)keep it, and buy the addt'l titles seperately ($25.00ea; $75.00)
is there any insert/book/yoyo/facehugger bonus w/ the set? or just the metal looking box? any advice welcome. (or copies, EYE )

Well, they used to come with like 4 collector movie cards, but mine didn't. I think they stopped doing that after they finished promoting it when it was first released.

It comes in a nifty case though.
