Is it possible to have a 3-D movie come to DVD with 3-D glasses?

Throughout the technological achievments of the DVD format, we have still never seen a 3-d film come to DVD with glasses or its original transfer. Dial M For Murder, and The House on Haunted Hill are two of the biggest films in the 50's to be released in the VERY short fad of 3D. And let's not forget the early 80's craze over it, either. Friday the 13th III, Jaws 3-D, and countless other horror films were released in 3-D. So, I'm wondering if its possible to have DVDs with working 3-D glasses?

Ahhh you beat me to it. Came with two pairs of glasses and all.
Really bad 3D though. Not much effect at all.

There was a re-surgence of 3D movies in the early eighties which is why Friday the 13th IIID came about. I remember there was one called Comin' At Ya and I think Parasite was another one. I still have the glasses for those tucked away some where in a shoe box. The movies were horrid, but the 3D was awsome. Not the typical red/blue 3D from the fifties either. It was a different kind that used some sort of polorization (something like that. I couldn't even spell it right)

Hopefully they can make it a little more effective for DVD.

I'd like to get Starchaser: The Legend of Orin on DVD. It was shot in 3D, but if they can't pull it off, I'd just like a 2.35 anamorphic widescreen transfer.

The DVDS "The Bubble" And "Comin At Ya!" are 3-D, with glasses.

I have "Comin at Ya!", but Rhino put a pair of the red/blue kind, which they've already admitted don't work. You interested in getting in rid of the glasses so I can actually watch the movie? Or would that not work on a TV?

House on Haunted Hill wasn't 3-D was it? I thought it was just a flying skeleton on a rope for that one.

INVADERS FROM MARS and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON were 3-D

Apparently polarized 3-D won't work, but colour 3-D will.

Well Freddy 6 is about it. From my understanding its almost impossible to display 3-d correctly on DVD.

There were a few 3-d laserdiscs that well were short of anything spectacular.

They broadcast some John Wayne movie in 3d on TV maybe 8 years back or so. You had to get the glasses at Wendy's. It was the color 3D and it definitely worked.....the Duke darn near punched me in the face. So, I'm sure it's not impossible to have 3D on a television.

I'd love to see some more 3D dvds...

Yeah I taped the 3-D version of Hondo when it was on tv.Got the glasses from a piggly-wiggly.I also remember one of the creature movies airing on tv in the 80's in 3-D,wished I'd have taped that.Just got the Comin at ya disc in 3d last night.Haven't watched it yet. It's got those colored glasses.I'll try them.I was gonna try the John Wayne ones also but I just checked and they are the colored ones too.

When you taped Hondo, did the 3D work? I remember before the movie (I think it was introduced by the Duke's daughter) they said it wouldn't work if you videotaped it..

There were hundreds of movies made in 3-D during the early 50's. They did alot of pornos in the 70's. Probably the best 50's one was "House of Wax" with Vincent Price...a really good 3-Der. I went to see, in the 70's, "Creature From the Black Lagoon and It Came From Outerspace and Revenge of the Creature and House of Wax" in 35mm and they were fantastic. At the Comicon last month in San Diego they showed some 3-Ders in 16mm...terrible. I have on DVD "Comin' at ya"...what a piece of crap...completely out of focus. If they could do it right it would be a DVD worthy to get...but will they ever????

While the 3-D for "Freddy's Dead" wasn't spectacular, I'd still really like to see the 3-D version of "Dial M for Murder" (My favorite film of all time), and adding 3-D to an 80's slasher like "Friday the 13th Part II" is just too much fun!!!

Thanx,
Brook
