The Shining (mini series)
Any talk of when the 1997 mini series version of The Shining might make it to DVD, much less more simply just VHS? All the other Stephen King miniseries came out pretty quickly. What happenned with this one?

This question has come up from time to time before. Apparently, there was a clause in the contracts that allowed the mini-series to be made. I guess since Kubrick owned the film rights to the story, he needed to approve the remake. As I understand it, he gave the o.k. to the remake as long as there wasn't a video release to compete (or confuse with) his film version of the story.
I'd really love to have this miniseries (as well as IT) on DVD...I wish they could work something out. |

i am also hoping for this one to be announced soon. call me a blasphemer, but i thought the TV version was more intense and scary and overall better than Kubrick's version. also way truer to the book and filled in a ton of stuff that was cut out of the original.
perhaps Kubrick's widow will now give them the go ahead to do a video release, if they call it something different, like Mick Garris's The Shining : TV MiniSeries... Uncut! [This message has been edited by esc (edited 08-11-2001).] |

The Shining (TV Version) is out on PAL (UK) video. You can probably order it to the US from Blackstar or Amazon UK.
