Your Top 10 Comic Book Films

As a spin-off of the Spider-Man 3 discussion (currently in progress over in Now Playing), I thought a Top 10 list was in order. Now, this is not a best comic book adaptation list, this is a list for your favorite films originally based on comic books.

So… list away!

P.S. Here's a pretty good list if you need a refresher:

My top 10 would be...

10. Superman The Movie.
Total classic, although Margot Kidder gets even more annoying every single time i watch it.
9. Spider-Man.
Great superhero blockbuster, let down slightly but that ludicrous GG costume. Still a hugely enjoyable film, though overshadowed by it's vastly superior sequel.
8. The Crow.
Visually stunning, dark, violent & tinged with real-life tragedy that given the theme of the film & the performance Brandon Lee put in is even more heartbreaking. It's a shame they felt the need to cash in on this one's justified success with some of the worst sequels known to man.
7. V For Vendetta.
Wasn't familiar with the book, but i loved this from start to finish.
6. Hellboy.
Hard one to sum up, it's totally ludicrous yet hugely entertaining.
5. Blade II.
Liked the first film, loved this follow up. Super violent, amazingly over the top & with the ultimate bad-ass performance by Snipes, this is a total guilty pleasure of mine. Shame the 3rd film sucked huge amounts of ass.
4. Batman Begins.
I was a big fan of Burton's Batman films (Returns only just missed this list) but Nolan's grittier, real world Batman blows them away. Can't wait to see what they do with the follow up.
3. Sin City.
Not much to be said here, this is the most faithful comic adaptation ever & a damn fine movie to boot.
2. X2.
I was only moderately impressed with the first film, but from the amazing opening this had me totally hooked. If only Singer had returned to finish the trilogy...
1. Spider-Man 2.
Just perfect for me. It nails exactly what a good comic book movie should be & as a huge Spidey fan growing up, it gave me exactly what i'd hoped for from a Spider-Man film. My favourite comic book movie by a country mile & one of my favourite films ever.

I don't think i could give them an order but i can probably narrow it down to 10 movies. So in no specific order

3. Road to Perdition
4. Spider-Man 2
5. 300
6. Hellboy
7. Blade II
8. X-Men 2

7. Batman Begins
8. Daredevil Director's Cut
9. Constantine (I know nothing of the source material so that could change if I ever read any Hellblazer in the future)
10. Hulk

I haven't seen 300 yet so that may make the list.

Some of the worst movies, for me, would include Batman & Robin, X-Men 3, A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Alien vs. Predator, and Batman Forever.

1. Batman Begins - About as perfect as a movie, not just a comic book movie, gets for me.

2. Spider-Man 2 - I'm genuinely moved with his struggle to balance his normal life with his life as Spider-man.

3. Spider-Man - Glad to see my favorite hero has two great movies.

4. Superman - The first half is perfect, but I still enjoy the rest.

5. Superman Returns - It moves me more to see Superman get the crap beaten out of him and then die than it does for me to see the same thing happen to Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. I guess I like Superman even more.

6. X-Men - This gave me hope that Spider-Man could be good.

7. X-Men 2 - Unlike many people, I like the first just a bit better.

8. Hellboy - Good fun with characters that you care for.

9. V for Vendetta - I actually enjoyed this one more than the comic.

10. Blade 2 - Dumb fun, but dumb fun at its best.

Honorable mentions, 'cause they're not officially comic-book movies, but they darn-well could have been: Unbreakable, The Incredibles, Robocop.

EDIT: Oh crap! What about Sin City and 300? Dangit - ask me again tomorrow.

Wow , why no love for Tim Burton's Batman or Batman Returns. Look I love batman begins just as much as many of you, but to discount the real treat the origianl batman was is a crime. Jack Nicholson as the Joker was outstanding. I am saddened to see that it does not make anyone's list. I understand the importance of Batman begins, but this one can not be ignored. I am an avid Batman fan in all areas, comic, novels, tv and so and, and I can tell you that Tim Burton took his inspiration of a darker batman, that was present in some comic book arcs. It is an outstanding film. Here is the rest of my list

Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Begins
Superman
Superman II
Superman Returns
Spiderman 1 and 2
X men 2
darecevil directors cut
