I just got this one last week, and watched it for the first time the other night.
First off, I was impressed with the amount of bass in this. Not Gladiator or SPR by any means, but not bad at all....and it's only DD5.0
The other thing, for those of you who like catching flubs, and screw ups, should get a load of this one.
In chapter 35 at 141:29. Jeff Daniels character has just finished talking to one of his officers, and he's starting to walk back up the hill....look to the right side of the screen, standing in front of a tree.
There's a guy in a baseball cap, zipped up windbreaker, and blue jeans.
You only catch it for just a second then it cuts to another scene, but it's there.

I just looked for that blooper, couldn't see it, but will try again later with zoom.
I think they did a good job with the disc, but I will always be pissed that they did not include the "deleted scenes" that were in the LaserDisc Special Edition.

A prequel and a sequel are in the works to this movie. Some of the same actors will be returning. But Lee will be played by Robert Duvall. The prequel title is "Gods and Generals" and the sequel title is, "The Last Full Measure". "G&G" is due out sometime next year.

I saw this movie for the very first time all the way through about a month ago, I was impressed and went out the very next day and bought it. Would have loved to have seen more extras on the disc.

It occurs right after Jeff Daniels character (Col. Chamberlain) finishes talking with one of his officers and turns to walk back up the hill. You may need to use a slo-mo thing to catch it, it happens fast.

Well, I still didn't catch it. I saw a guy who may have been the one, but some of the re-enactors' Confederate uniforms look little better than street clothes, so i could not be sure-and this on a 51" TV!

BTW-I'm glad to se that the actor I felt was the weakest link-Martin Sheen-is to be replaced w/Rob't Duvall. I believe Duvall was th original choice fo Lee, but that he turned down the money.
Hope they do a better job on the beards this time, too.
