Kind of an old topic, but I'm just dying to get the new edition that's supposedly in the works. Has anyone heard of a possible release date for it?

It would be nice to have both versions of the movie - theatrical and director's cut - all on the same disc. Even though I don't care for the theatrical cut.

What special features are you hoping it has?

I'm hoping it has all the extras the Criterion LD had, plus a commentary with Ridley Scott woudn't hurt either. And I'm sure the menus are going to be killer...Alright, time to get back to earth...

No wait, 20th anniversary of the film's original release. So, next year, that is.

As for what time next year, I don't know but I wouldn't expect it first or second quarter.

...there is a 3rd version...it was made in 1991 and is called "the workprint version". It will be playing at the Egyptian theater in Hollywood, CA on Sept. 21 at 7:30 pm.

What extras were on the Criterion disc? I thought that _that_ laserdisc was just special because it was letterboxed or something?

It was originally supposed to come out this Christmas, but was postponed until sometime next year. I hope it comes out early next year, like March or April.
