Tuesday's releases might be delayed

Maybe, maybe not, but something to consider if you're expecting a pre-order or planning to go out and buy a new release. Last week's flight groundings could likely have an affect on things.

On the other hand, a Wal-Mart here already had Basic Instinct SE on sale last Thursday.

I feel the same way as you. Not sure whether to buy. Apparently the descriptive video service isn't included this time, which sucks. The new packaging sucks..it's just a clear case with the disc showing, no spine label I believe, what looks like a small booklet cut round to the size of the disc, and the free ice-pick pen. Frankly it looks cheap.

I'll probably just rent it to check out the commentary & stuff if my local Hollywood Video gets it. There's no cover art to display though. Maybe you get to rent the pen too. LOL

Although it's been a while and I don't know if things have changed, I used to work at a Music/Video store and they usually get their shipments in the Thursday befor the Tuesday of the release date. Even if flights are delayed I'd imagine we'll get our DVDs on time. Besides, according to many online reports, it seems like Wal-Mart and Best Buy are breaking their release date laws and have had a bunch of DVDs that are coming out in the following weeks avaiable about 2 weeks ago!

DVD Empire shipped my order early Friday. Also, Darqleo is right. A buddy of mine bought Total Recall last Monday at a Wal-Mart.

The nearby Future Shop got their shipment in for sure on Friday (I saw them unloading the boxes, and tried to convince them to break the release laws....). Although they probably had the shipment sitting in the warehouse before the events of tuesday. Either way, there will be no delay...

I just got my Total recall yesterday at KMART
(actually Big K or something).
could the proliferation of the early-out be due t o the fact that both TR and BI are re-releases of previous titles? Usually kmart gets flicks LATE if anything, and the only other time i got a pre-street dvd was with the Die Hard collection (another title that had enjoyed a previous release, in a threeby set no less!), a week early at a BEST BUY who always seems on point with that shite.

Besides "Basic Instinct" SE, are there any notable movies that I should keep an eye out for this week? I postponed delivery of the Sunday newspaper for the last two weeks because I was on vacation.

The original "Cape Fear" and the '91 Martin Scorcese re-make, "American Werewolf in London," "Blood Simple," and the Criterion release of "The Vanishing." These next couple of months are filled with huge, new releases.
