World Trade Center Buildings

I am very saddened by the event and was wondering what dvd movies had the WTC as just a background or actually as a primary element. These were huge landmarks that are gone forever. I Would like to see them as they were. Anyone have any movie suggestions.

In the Simpsons episode where they go to New York City, the WTC figures prominently, I believe.

It's not a DVD, but the trailer for the new Spiderman movie features the WTC very prominently.

According to www.darkhorizons.com, the Spiderman trailers and posters are being pulled to remove images of the WTC.

I think that they will eventually rebuild the World Trade Center in the same spot, but I think it will also serve as a Memorial to those who lost their lives in this tragic event. I think it would be a good idea to rebuild the World Trade Center because it would serve as a message that America can rebuild itself.

Here's the rundown from darkhorizons on changes in TV shows and movies

**************************
TV World Reaction: Sunday's Emmy Awards have been indefinitely postponed whilst most TV shows in production on their upcoming Fall seasons have been shutdown. The incident comes at a time when three of the most highly anticipated shows of the new TV season - "Alias", "The Agency" and "24" - focus on the CIA's crime fighting efforts against terrorists. As a result promotional spots for these new series have been pulled from their respective networks and whilst the premieres for each show is still scheduled, content may be changed as the pilot for "24" (due to air late October) for example includes a sequence where a terrorist blows up a plane. "The West Wing" third season premiere is expect to air as planned next week. Other productions like "Friends" are being looked over with a fine tooth comb and any shot with the towers in the background will either be removed or have the towers digitally erased out. Thanks to 'Swerj', 'Jerry'

Film World Reaction: In film news there's been some drastic last minute shuffling. Tim Allen's black comedy "Big Trouble" about events surrounding a group of people who interact with a suitcase bomb, has been pulled from a September 21st release and is now scheduled for sometime next year. Ed Burns' romantic flick "Sidewalks of New York" has also been pulled from an opening next Friday and will probably come out late November. Arnold Schwarzenegger's terrorist thriller "Collateral Damage" and now word Robert Redford's "The Last Castle" are having their trailers & posters destroyed and look likely to be pushed back ('Collateral' its pretty certain). "Spider-Man" is also going to be changing its marketing - the teaser poster and trailer are being pulled from theatres and the Net. Thanks 'Tin Man', 'Carl', 'Hargon'

The incredible opening to Woody Allen's "Manhattan" features it, along with many other great New York landmarks. It's arguably the best opening to a film ever. That single opening sequence is probably the peak of Woody Allen's directing talent. Spectacular.

Thanx,
Brook

No, it was a real album cover that quickly was pulled before it even got printed up.

my bad. i jumped the gun as when i looked around the net for anything regarding this issue, i was unable to locate anything with the album title listed on that cover art (party somrthin') however, i did look in AMG for the group "The Coup" and did note that their most recent release "5 million ways (to kill a CEO)" didn't have as photo. sooooo, i went to the record co. website, and ond their front page, it expressed apologies for the cover (which was conceived prior to the incident) ammong other info. HERE"S THAT PAGE and a final note, I am not posting a link to the pic as a courtesy, seeing as how the company has asked for individuals to limit distribution of said image. period.
but mebbe u can find it anyway.:\

I'm providing a link because, despite their intent to take it back, I think they should realize what imagery like that can mean and what the consequences of it can be.

I dunno where exactly i stand on this issue, but i linked it also. its the (.)period after the word "period"
im just a dick i guess. but now it doesnt matter, cos you linked it like a gentleman.
I was struck with the same thought: whether or not the image has since been pulled due to the unfortunate events, the group obviously had quite a good time conceiving and executing the cover design, seemingly supportting terrorism as a means of invoking change. which (as has been made so clear) is the the farthest thing from the truth. the only thing it changes are peoples' lives. forever.i'm all for activism, even in cases where it may be at odds with popular thought, but please.

Agreed. Certainly, it means so much more now, but that doesn't diminish the fact that it still meant something before.

The Siege is the one with the terrorist attacks by Muslims in NY and Bruce Willis' character declaring Martial Law, right?

Oh yeah, and i just think this "erasing" of the WTC buildings in films like Spiderman and Zoolander is ludicrous.

Why are we trying to forget that these buildings existed????

It's not trying to forget these buildings existed. But one is meant to be a rollercoaster movie, and the other is a satirical comedy. I know if I was in the audience at either movie and saw the World Trade Center, it'd be hard to get into the movie. It's nobody's fault; it'd just be hard for me.

This does not mean I'm all for "fixing" older movies and digitally erasing the WTC, even in movies where they are depicted as being destroyed, like Deep Impact. But for newer movies, it seems a polite thing to do for the audience, who would not like to be reminded of a tragedy while being entertained.

I just don't want the entertainment news organizations to make a big deal out of it. It's the right thing to do, IMHO, but should NOT be a P.R. opportunity

Theree has turned up several music groups that had the WTC being exploded. Our news station here found at least 4. All but one are recalling them. I have to say it is "sad" when I see the WTC in a movie.

I understand that the new version of The Time Machine is being re-edited or having shots cut (and being delayed) because of a scene in which meteors fall on NYC. Maybe they just want to remove the towers from the scene; otherwise it's just ridiculous. Terrorists did not bomb the city with meteors. You can't rework every film with violent content.

By the way, were the towers visible in the flooded Manhattan of AI? If so, I'll bet they delay the DVD. But if someone goes in and actually removes them, that's officially going too far. (And I didn't even like AI.)

Well, ordinarily I'd agree, for instance with A.I. I hope they don't re-edit A.I. to exclude any trace of the WTC in the New York scenes, but that's because it's already been released and to tamper with it would be just wrong.

But this supposed Time Machine scene, with giant meteors, pummelling New York City to smithereens... don't you think that not re-cutting that to be a tad insensitive? The good people of New York, and anyone who has watched CNN in the past week, are now a little more conscious of what giant projectiles can do to a city. It would be very, very innaprorpriate and if they can fix it, they ought to, because with this somewhat wiser movie-going public, it definetly is broke.

I guess the new Men in Black movie was going to have the climax center in and around the World Trade Center.

I've seen shots (pictures) from the 2030 portion of The Time Machine and the towers were prominently in frame. I suspect they are simply removing the towers and leaving the rest as is.

If you don't mind potential spoilers, you can go here under the New York 2030 section and see what I'm referring to.

Without watching it again just to look, I'm sure Ghostbusters at least has the buildings in the background in some scenes. They are pictured very clearly right on the DVD cover.

I just heard this morning that Mariah Carey's new movie Glitter had the WTC buildings in it, and during the screening, it supposedly got the biggest applause in the entire (terrible) movie.

Dude, I know how you feel. Sometimes, I feel like a thread killer. I've started threads that have just faded into obscurity, or added my thought to someone elses, and no one answered. But I don't think that it's personal, because I've started some threads that have had some life, and lately, I seemed to have touched some nerves...

Jerm and THX, my friend who's on here has expressed that concern to me and I realized that's something I've felt, too, on occasion. I think possibly most people feel this way, and that it's something that happens to everyone but you only notice it when it happens to you. So, you think it's only you. Threads have to end some time and do you ever look at other threads to see who was the last the posted?
