NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I just read that there's a rumor floating around that Jerry Schlockheimer might do a remake of The Poseidon Adventure with Ben Affleck as Gene Hackman's character. NIGHTMARE! NIGHTMARE!

Sounds like bunk to me, but anything's possible. For whatever it's worth, there've been worse ideas in Hollywood's history (you know, like EXORCIST II... ).

A curious mix of the best and worst in motion picture entertainment--that's right, it's Filmmaker's DVDTracker list!

Why? The special effects are great, the film is rather timeless...the only thing that's dated is the music.

Then again, why remake Psycho?

Yeah, that one's right up there with "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?"...the world may never know...

I think everything about Poseidon is great. Only the special effects seem dated to me, but I love everything else.

If you had to remake it, I would suggest putting in Kevin Spacey as Rev. Scott. If you wanted to get someone younger, I'd probably go with Johnny Depp or Edward Norton.

I'm not an Affleck hater. I enjoyed him in Good Will Hunting, and Kevin Smith seems to have mastered the art of getting a credible performance out of him. But I can't see why every movie has to have him in it. I for one, still can't believe Affleck is replacing Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan.
