The shows themselves look alright, but not super. But I think it's more to do with the quality of the source material rather than the discs.

Hi,

Thanks for the input. It seems the DVD comes with some nice extras so was wondering if the whole package added up to a $27.99 buy (from Sam's club anyway).

Thanks!

I think it is worth admission just for the episodes, myself.

The extras are good, but not too plentiful. Well, there are commentaries on every episode--listened to a couple, which seemed alright. Otherwise I think a good job of making a lot of bullets (on the back of the box) out of not too much actually stuff.

I think its worth it, Squid. Aside from the episodes and commentaries, there are an average amount of extras -- nothing huge, but ok. Still, here's hoping they saved more Simpsons documentaries/specials for the later seasons.

Also of note, if you remember those first season episodes, some fans complained they moved at a veeeery slow pace and didn't have the snappy quick-wit of today's episodes. You should consider this and ask yourself if you liked those early episodes that moved at a "leisurely pace" (as the commentary humrously mentioned).

The boxset is definately worth the $30 price tag. The epsiode quality isn't too bad, and the commentaries and extras are great.

I bought it and haven't really had time to sit down in front of it. If you are a Simpson's completist you have to have it. How many people bought the Simpson's Complete Episode Guide when it came out? That kicked some serious ass in detail.

I'm with Snake on this. I'm not the biggest fan of the first couple of seasons, but I'll pick them up to keep my collection complete. And $30 isn't much to shell out for the first season. Plus I found the commentaries informative and entertaining.

The episodes look good. At leat as good as they are ever going to look.

$30 is a bargain. If you like the Simpson's you'll like the disc.

The Simpson's is funny as hell. While it's true the quality goes up as the show progressed, the early episodes are still great, better than most everything else on TV.
