Slight spoilers, I will never talk about the specifics of the plot in this post or reveal specific incidents, but I will talk about the mood of the movie as I perceived it.
It sets out very intersesting, in the beginning I am thinking Se7en wannabe, and it originally looked like it was gonna be a good one. Then it pretty much slows down for a while, except for some nice looks at the nich alp landscapes etc.
The action sequenses are also pretty good, expect that they sometimes seemed a little forced, like they had to come up with something here to convince us we are watching an action movie. If I sound confused, I might be. The plot is easy to comprehend, but in the end I am a bit confused as to what kind of movie it tries to be. Action, murder mystery, thriller, what? That is the main thing I got against it, in addition to the slow pace which I don't really see any justification for in this movie. To put it simple, at times I was bored. |

I really liked it, but I must stress...whoops:
SPOILERS!!! . . . . . . . . . ...must stress that rather than a "SE7EN wannabe with a cop out ending" I enjoyed that it was never really a serial killer thriller at all. The film starts out like one, but very quickly branches off into other territory altogether. If I didn't know better, I'd say that the writer wanted to tell his story, but knew that a serial killer angle would garner more exposure. Pity that the commentary is in french with no subtitles. ![]() P.S. Whilst I enjoyed Crimson Rivers, I predict a lot of people won't. (IMHO.)
