Anyone else disappointed with the video quality of the Godfather DVD's?

I haven't seen any other posts about this, but I was wondering if I'm not the only person greatly disappointed with the video quality of the Godfather movies on DVD, especially considering that the VHS release a few years back was THX certified and wasn't riddled with blemishes and flecks. I'd get my money back, if I could.

I am dissappointed also. I think that the pic quality is better when they show it on USA. I can't find the Sopranos hidden surprise either.

I happen to think it is a amazing transfer. But I suggest anyone who is thinking of buying it rent it first. Judge for yourself!
I think it is easily the best these movies have looked in years!

To see the Sopranos extra, go to the Galleries on the fifth disc, and then to the DVD credits. You should be able to find it from there.

The picture quality's adequate

Yes, I too am disappointed in the Godfather set. Don't get me wrong, these are still some of my favorite films ever, but the DVD presentation of these films seems quite lacking. Firstly, I've got a Toshiba SD3109 player, so the fifth disc is virtually useless to me. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth the hassle to get the firmware updated or just get a new player. Apart from the disappointment over not being able to access the supplements, I'm also disappointed in the picture quality of the films. I was surprised at the number of specks throughout the films. I figured it would be a given that the print would have been touched up somewhat. I was surprised at the amount of grain visible throughout the films as well. I really expected part three, being not that old, to look a LOT better than it did. Another thing I noticed, in part three, when Michael and Kay are talking alone in a room in the villa in Sicily, every time there's a cut to a shot of Kay, the picture strobes slightly, from light to dark, almost as if being affected by Macrovision distortion.
As for the packaging...Dear Paramount, could you please make downloadable keep case inserts available for us? These cardboard things suck. Thanks tons, really.

No problem

It was actually the first thing I looked at when I bought the set.

I thought that it was fine...I never saw the VHS versions of the trilogy but I know for sure that a few specks here and there wouldn't cause me to choose VHS over DVD. I wish that the cases were a little sturdier, although I do like the little box that they come in. A booklet would have been nice too. But the movies are still wonderful and well worth the price.

It's very good for these particular films. If you're comparing it to Thin Red Line, then yes, you're going to be disappointed. But I've owned these movies on just about every format imaginable, and they've never looked better than on these DVDs.
