Cats and Dogs
Whats up with this? I thought that a widescreen version was to be released today. I checked at BestBuy and Circuit City in Atlanta. All they have is a 'Full Screen' version which is really a misleading name for Pan and Scan!

I live in San Antonio, TX and I have checked all over the city and Best Buy and Circuit City are not carrying Widescreen. All the employees kept saying that there was not a widescreen version available. When I confronted them they finally admitted that their store did not order any. That is major B.S.. That means that the pan & scan version is going to outsell the widescreen version and of course Warner Bros. will claim that it's because that is what the public wants. Bastards.

Our Best Buy only has P&S, too, which really surprised me. What Drexl said may be true, but this is still frustrating. I just do not understand the logic of not carrying a widescreen version of a movie on DVD simply because it's not what the majority of people want.
I said this about Mummy Returns and it's the same here. It's not so much what movie it is; it's the principle. If the majority likes full-frame, fine. But there is still a very significant number of DVD sale and rental customers that prefer widescreen. I guess we can all go to the store websites and complain, politely, of course ![]() |

Yeah, up here in Canada there isn't a widescreen version of Cats&Dogs to be found either. The stores I asked hadn't even heard that there was going to be a widescreen version!
I hope they do release a widescreen version, my wife wants to get the movie, and we don't want to have a pan&scan edition.... |

The Media Play by me in Niagara Falls is only carrying Full Frame too (I figure I'd check when I was buying TPM).
What gives? Did Warner not release it? ------------------ -->Marty McFly<-- It's like eating a spoonful of Drano. Sure, it cleans you out, but it'll leave you hollow inside. My DVD Collection [This message has been edited by Marty McFly (edited 10-16-2001).] |

While picking up TPM at Costco, I picked up Cats and Dogs to purchase. Then I realized they too were only carrying the Full Screen version.
I'm just hoping the lack of widescreen copies is because retailers all ready placed their order before Warner announced the widescreen version. ------------------ Click here to see My Collection |

One more person checking in on this, from Va Beach, VA.
Hit BJs at lunch to see what thier price was on TPM and would have picked up C&D if it was there, but P&S only. Figured, OK they had that problem w/ Hanibal/Silence came out. One they got in WS and the other they got in P&S instead of 50/50 on each. Hit BestBuy after work to pick up TPM and again the same thing two seperate racks of C&D but all P&S. Have to go back today since my TPM was borked and I'm going to talk to a manager or something. |

Same with the Best Buy in Pleasont Hill, California. Two racks of Full Screen Cats and Dogs.
When we asked the worker-bee he said they didn't get any and asked if I was certain it even came out. I just looked at Amazon.com. The widescreen version will be available in one to two weeks. Maybe this delay is a test from WB to see how many customers are really willing to wait for the ws version of the film and to get a clear figure of the p&s lovers/customers who donīt care vs. us widescreen fans... just a wild guess..

I'll tell ya folks...at the store in Australia where I work, I never ever order the P&S stuff. When there's a choice, we only get WS in. (And if a customer asks for P&S, we usually do our best to discourage them from ordering it.)
Just trying to do my part to keep the WS releases flowing. ![]() |

I found it!
Widescreen... in Canada... at Eastgate Mall in Hamilton... or Stoney Creek... its like on the border. At Sunrise... like a big CD/Music chain in Ontario here. Nowhere else have I see the widescreen version tho. ------------------ My DVD Collection |
