Not to rat on your thread or anything, but what does these threads "Best whatever" have to do with DVDs. These should be in the "Now Playing" forum.

I just watched my new copy of the Princess Bride SE and I was reminded of what I've always thought: The Westley/ Inigo fencing scene is the brst sword fight in ammerican cinematic history...

Now Playing is only for current movies/shows. If they're not in theaters or broadcasting new episodes on TV, then Software is the place.

Ahhhh......Best Fights? I love kung fu. The best fight sequence of all time is in Legend of Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2). It lasts about 20 minutes and you will have sweaty palms after watching it.
Next, I'd say Fists of Legend, cause Jet Li breaks like 20 peoples wrists in like 3.5 seconds! This is when Jet Li was good!
Then, I'd say Phantom Menace. The entire fight sequence is just beautiful. Expecially the Obi Vs. Maul fight.
Runners up, Id say Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Matrix. Matrix 2&3 look promising as well.

Hehe, I bet someone feels dumb.

I'd have to go with SWPM, it's just awesome.

The fistfight on the train in From Russia With Love, or the hella-long fight scene in They Live.

It's certainly one of the best, but I'd rate the swordfight in Rob Roy a little higher. It's not as flashy, but it's a hell of a lot more intense.

From an unlikely source: Check out the swordfight between Danny Kaye and Basil Rathbone in The Court Jester.

The best fight sequence has to be in "They Live" and if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about.

Fight Club. Just about any scene where Norton is fighting Pitt and we see that Pitt isn't really there.

I'd peg the climactic battle in THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD as the screen's greatest swordfight.

I'm also seconding the vote for FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE as greatest fight scene, although once the great Republic serials find their way to DVD, you're gonna see some fights what AM fights, with entire rooms destroyed every 10 minutes or so...

Crouching Tiger, hands down. I'm sorry, but no American produced fight scene can compare to anything in a Chinese kung fu movie.

My personal favorite: the courtyard scene in Drunken Master II.

Rocky -vs- Apollo Creed in Rocky 2.
His fight in Rocky 5 was pretty sweet too.

I forgot about the restuarant shoot out in Hard Boiled! Basically every action sequence in that movie is a great 'fight' between ChowYun Fat and a couple hundred bad guys.

Well, those are shootouts. Were talking more hand to hand combat or swords.

P.S.- Hard Boiled does have the best shootouts ever!

I've always admired the scene near the end of Goldeneye were Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean beat the tar out of each other. Nothing really fancy; just fast and brutal. These guys are HURTING each other.

Besides the great Duel of the Fates fight in Phantom Menace, I also loved the final fight between Arnold and the T-1000 in Terminator 2. Something about the way it was choreographed. It was brutal and exciting to watch, and I remember wearing out my old VHS tape during those scenes.

And Iron Monkey which I've seen recently had breathtaking moments. Way better than Crouching Tiger's(which I still think is an overrated film).

The fist fight between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth in Bridget Jones` Diary is funny and rated the best fist fight due to its realism "AW, that really hurt!"

The best sword fight is again the fight in Princess Bride. "I too am not left handed"

The best gun fight that comes to mind is the lobby scene in the Matrix or the opening kick ass rave scene in blade.

Have you ever seen Hard Boiled or The Killer? Those ARE the best shootouts ever captured on film. They make Matrix looked like kids play!
