"Le Pacte des Loups" : best R2 DVD is just out...

I know this site and the boards attached to it are intended to be R1 only, but...

one of the best DVD around the world is just out in France ! It's "Le Pacte des Loups", a french film : action , adventure, romance, great fights and the search for a beast...

maybe you've never heard about that movie, but it's a 3 discs set that just landed

1 - the movie in anamorphic widescreen with both DD 5.1 and DTS, audio commentary with director Christophe Gans, audio commentary with actors Vincent Cassel and Samuel LeBihan

2 - all the bonus you could expect : a 1h30 interview documentary on the making of the film, deleted scenes, storyboards and ...

3 - an "in the production" (ala Starwars Ep1) documentary on the making of the film...

all of this in a beautiful boxset...

if some of you are interested in action/adventure french film, go for this one.. definitly a must have

I saw the trailer for this when I went to see Mulholland Drive last week. (Here it's going to be called Brotherhood of the Wolf). It looks great.

BTW pilauh, if you're still around (and I know this is going a bit off-topic; apologies): can you tell me how Va Savoir and Amelie are being received in France? Are they getting good reviews, and are people going to see them? I saw both of these in recent weeks, and though I think Va Savoir is overrated by American reviewers, Amelie is one of the best films I've seen in a really long time.

"Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain" was really apreciated here in France... lots of people really the work of JP Jeunet (a wonderboy...).

"Va savoir" , I didn't saw that one and can't tell anything about it...

BTW, a R2 DVD of "Amelie" is expected for the beginning of 2002...

...I didn't use to, up until about a year ago... lots of French DVDs (mostly -but not exclusively- of French movies), also a few German and Dutch, Spanish (AMORES PERROS with dts sound!) and Italian discs, a handful of Australian(R4) and many UK releases (mostly -but not all- of British TV series, e.g. FAWLTY TOWERS, ULTRAVIOLET, JEEVES & WOOSTER, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, QUEER AS FOLK, THE WORLD AT WAR, THE SAINT, etc.)...

David2001 ...I, too, received the collector edition (#55914), haven't watched it yet (the postman only brought it this morning)... but just looking at that oh-so-nice 'book' and opening it and looking at the three discs and knowing what's in store for me, I must agree with your exclamation of AWESOME ! FA BU LOUS ! and would add: like WOW !!!

I'm really happy that some of you enjoy that DVD... This is the work of a great french director CHRISTOPHE GANS who will surely direct great films such as "Crying Freeman" (his first movie) and "Le Pacte des Loups"...

keep an eye on that man, he'll do great things...
