Halloween 2
OK, this is bugging me.. Which version of Halloween 2 should I get.. I dont have a widescreen tv, so the anamorphic issue, isnt leaning me either way.. Im more interested in the quality of the picture. The universal I can get for $40.00 AU, or I can get the good times version for $13.00 AU. The price gap is huge, but for all I know, this DVD sux, or it frigin rocks....
Any tips most appreciated.. cheers |

Here is an address where you can get a full review of Universal's release ...
http://www.horrordvds.com/reviews/a-m/halloween2/ Here is my take: Let's face it anamorphic would be nice ... because we all will be moving to 16x9 eventually so why buy something that won't get you there? Perhaps simple in this case, some people I've chatted with actually think the image quality of Good Times is better than Universal .. but because they were such big fans they got it anyway. You can bet priviledges to your favorite beach that someone is going to come out and do this movie right sometime ... Anchor Bay are ya listening. So why pay big bucks for something that is only questionably better? Let the "Good Times" Roll |

Hi,
The Goodtimes version is excellent. I bought it when it first came out because I waited years for a ltbx version. I did buy the Universal, and the big difference is in the colors. The Universal has better, more vibrant, more pronounced color then the Goodtimes. However, you really have to compare the two, like I did, to really notice it. Also, I like the cover art, and keepcase packaging better. If you really want the best, go with the Universal. The differences ARE there, but they are not huge. Hope this helps! Chris |

There's also an easter egg on the GOODTIMES disc. If you go to scene selections, it plays the entire soundtrack through the whole thing. You have to go forward in the scenes to hear more, but the whole thing is still there.

I personally would go with the Good-Times version just to screw over Universal for putting out that lame, piece of crap bare-bones release.
True, The Good-Times release is bare-bones too, but the price reflects this... $5.99 VS. $19.99. Universal ignored our pleas for a Special Edition... so I will do my small part by refusing to buy their product. ------------------ This? This is ice. I agree. I refuse to buy their stupid Halloween 2. You can get the Goodtimes disc (in a keepcase) for 5.00 even.
Or you can get the Universal H2 with a bad looking trailer and some cheesy bios for 22.99. I have seen both and the anamorphic picture is not THAT much of an improvement. ------------------ Matt's DVDs |
