One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: SE?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm not really sure if this has been discussed, but here goes. Are there any plans to release "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in a special edition anytime soon? This is one of the greatest and most beloved of American films, yet the DVD is the skimpiest for a major release yet (not even a trailer!!!). So I'm hoping something better is in the works.

Welcome to the forum sewheele!

This is from the HTF chat with Wanrer transcripted over at the Bits:

[SethLevi] Hi, can we expect RSDL versions of "Amadeus", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Strangers on a Train" in the near future? If so, will they feature new transfers? Thanks and great job on "Citizen Kane".

[Warner] Yes to the first two.
I think they're going to redo the Cuckoo's Nest withint he next year.

The special edition laserdisc of "Cuckoo's Nest" is one of the reasons I still love and own laserdiscs.

What a great set! Hopefully the same materials will be included on the DVD. The documentary is great and Milos Forman does a sparse, but informative, commentary track.

Me too. The box is great. It has a real wire fence on the front over a photo of Jack looking out. neat. This is how a SE should be done.

Extras would be great, but even just a decent transfer would be welcome. There is one particularly troublesome scene when medications are being handed out, where it gets all blurry, zoomed in, weird looking for a minute as I recall.

A few months ago the Digital Bits reported that Warner was indeed releasing a special edition of the film on DVD sometime in 2002. I once read a review of the current disc and it was reported that the scene in which Jack Nicholson chokes Louise Fletcher was strangely omitted; I've hesitated and held out for a proper release of one of my favorite films.
