Any Seinfeld on DVD talk?

Has anybody heard anything about the possibility of Seinfeld appearing in DVD form?

Haven't heard anything yet but that and the Simpsons would be two of the greatest 'sitcoms' on DVD. It'd be nice if they did a $30 season by season set. (Unlike the x-files. The only thing keeping me from buying those sets are the $100 price tag. But i'm sure there are reasons. And if i want to watch them my girlfirends brother has em)

I was thinking about this the other day. A lot of the episodes are in syndaction, but to have the chance to sit down and watch any episode you wanted to would be awesome. Seinfeld is a great serious and I'd be willing to buy every season!

Download Morpheus and do a search for Seinfeld. It only took me about to week to collect every single episode in mpg or divx format.

ShaneMcFarland, would you be willing to get in touch with me (online of course) to eventually send me those eps? I absolutely love that show.

IKEA_Boy: Just go to www.download.com and do a search for "Morpheus". After installing, run a search for videos like "Seinfeld X" where X is a key word from the name of the episode you want (Numerous lists available online). Its very easy.

Shane

p.s. All episodes together, I think it totals around 3 GB.

Do you think it possible to burn them to a CD and watch them as a VCD?

You probably could somehow, with the proper conversion program. But some of the episodes will look like crap on a bigger screen; they are really pixelated as is on a 19" monitor.

I emailed NBC about this quite a while ago, and their response was something to the effect of "it is not in our future plans".

However, I think they would be stupid NOT to release Seinfeld episodes on DVD. I have all the episodes on VHS (after many years of diligent recording of new and syndicated shows), but I would pay BIG BUCKS for them on DVD.

I don't know what NBC's long-term plans are, but if the Friends DVDs are any sort of precedent, I don't have high hopes for my favorite NBC shows, like Frasier and ER, and of course Seinfeld. The Friends DVDs being, of course, "best of" collections instead of full seasons.

NBC doesn't have a call with the DVDs, the studios do. Warner produces Friends (alas the "Best-Ofs"), but Columbia owns Seinfeld (most likely season boxed sets).

I read somewhere that somebody asked Jerry Seinfeld during a concert about it, and he said they're making too much money on syndication to release them on DVD. Even if that conversation never took place, I think it's most likely the reason it could be a while.
