Chris Carter's "Millennium"

I've noticed that there has been a lot of interest for a DVD box-set of "The Lone Gunmen". I wonder if anyone else would be interested in seeing "Millennium" brought to DVD?

I found this to be a ground-breaking show when it first premiered a few years back, and I was sorry to see it go off the air.

Lance Henrikson's portrayal of Frank Black was so dead-on, that I couldn't see anyone else in that role.

What are your thoughts?

I enjoyed the series moreso than The X-Files. Each season saw a new set of producers and so the series changed each season.

The first season dealt with Frank's "gift" and using it to thwart serial killers with suggestions of supernatural powers at work (more of the latter in the second half of the season).

The second season, with producers Wong and Morgan (X-Files), opened up more possibilities: prophecies, the backstory of the Millennium Group, mucho supernatural incidents.

The third season incorporated elements from the previous seasons and gave Black a partner and an animosity for the Millennium Group.

It's a pity the series didn't reach the millennium (2001), but don't fret Millennium fans: according to thedgitalbits, Fox has tentative plans to release Millennium: The Complete First Season sometime in 2002 on DVD. Since most of their TV product has been delayed, I expect to the DVD release in 2003.

A very good show

Many weeks I thought it better than X-Files. I love Lance and he was perfect for the role of Frank Black. I would buy the first two seasons. I especially like the Wong/Morgan season. Third season sucked IMO.

This was definitely an overlooked series and would pick up the season sets in a cocaine heartbeat.

I watched this show from the time it debut to the time it went off the air. I like Millennium a hell of a lot more than the X-Files (which was a good show too).

I'm eagerly awaiting for Millennium to come to dvd, I will pick this up when ever it streets. No questions asked.

I didn't enjoy the third season as much as the second (which I thought was the best of the three seasons), but at least the writers and producers tried to keep the series interesting--most fans knew that Fox wasn't likely to renew the series beyond the third year. It fared better than Carter's other creations: Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunmen (I never caught either series, but I'm sure they'll see a DVD release sometime down the road, after The X-Files is completely released).

Darrin Morgan's two contributions to Millennium were hilarious (and established the series within the X-Files universe)--I loved the return of Jose Chung and the potshots at Scientology

I managed to tape 66 of the 67 episodes, but I missed the final ten minutes of the last episode because my tape ran out (I used to tape "keeper" programs on SP). Can anyone tell me how the final episode ended? At least I managed to watch the series "finale" on The X-Files.

I know Millennium reruns were (are?) on FX, but we don't get that channel in Canada and surprisingly it hasn't been shown on Space or another specialty channel (being filmed in Canada does qualify for can-con, all you Canadian specialty-channel programmers out there).

By the way, if anybody wants to check out the rumored DVD release, pore over thedigitalbits' "Rumor Mill" archives--it's mentioned along with a lot of other Fox product.

man...

I loved this show when it was running in Canada. It had a real edge to it, for me anyways.

Wow. I think this is my oldest thread resurrection yet!

Anyway, can anyone tell me if the third season of the show wrapped it up well enough so that a person watching it now would have a measure of closure? I never watched it enough while it was on (why, I don't know).

Watch seasons one and two and pretend there was no three and you get an AWESOME ending to the series.

Watch season three and you get "meh."

Yeah, I haven't seen all of season 3, but I did see the final episode, and it didn't really give the show any closure. The awesome X-Files episode that had Frank Black working with Mulder and Scully was way better, although that episode did give some closure to the story of Frank Black, it didn't close any of the plot threads that were left hanging in the final episode of the series.

I'm kind of impressed that the thread I started has been re-visited. What makes it quite interesting is that just this past 2 weeks, I've started watching the DVD's (I have seasons 1 and 2). I early into season 2, and just am amazed at how well this show has aged, and wish that it had more life to fully recognize it vision.

But I have heard rumours that Lance Henrikson is campaigning for a "Millennium" movie for some time now.

That would be freakin' great.

Yeah, I read some interview somewhere where he said it was his favorite character he ever portrayed... kind of cool.

And you're right, the show has aged well. Some of the second season feels like it could have been done last year, in the age where TV has gotten more cinematic and well-done, Millennium still fits right in.

The first two seasons anyway.

I just picked up the 2nd season yesterday at Best Buy (1 & 2 $19.99 each), I already have season 1. I haven't had time to sit down and watch it again yet, I remember watching most of the shows when they aired. The only drawback of the DVD's, is that they are Full screen. aaaaarrgghhh

Only season 1 is full frame, season 2 is widescreen.

Just picked up my copy from Best Buy yesterday. I was confused, because they list season two as Full Screen, but clear as day on the package it is widescreen. Cool.
